Dear God Tracker

A to Z and then to B

In my few humble years on this planet I have discovered that I seldom move directly to the place I desire to be. Somehow, I have always travelled the long way round to track the will of God. For instance, when I was 18 I heard the call of God on my life to fulltime service. At that time I had no idea what that "service" would be but I kept my spiritual ears and eyes open in the hope that I would soon discover God's plan. I did, of course, have plans of my own. I intended to do the normal thing and go to Bible College and then on to the ministry. But, in his sublime wisdom, my Father had other plans.

During this time of enquiry I happened to visit my brother in England. He had no idea what I was hearing from the Lord and neither did his pastor. On a visit to his church his pastor happened to single me out and give me a word from the Lord, which went something like this, "I have called you." Yes I thought there it is. Bible College here I come! But it was the next few words that stopped that 18-year old in his tracks. The Holy Spirit added, "But wait and be patient!" So, obediently, on my return to South Africa, I embarked upon a career in computers, which staggered along for the next 10 years. Eventually my IT vocation spluttered a few times then died out. Try as I may, I could not kick-start it back into life. Led by the Holy Spirit and God's word, I resigned my job, handed back the keys to my company car and finally enrolled at Bible College.

You see, dear God Tracker, the Lord is sovereign. He is wise and he knows your beginning from your end. If you acknowledge Jesus as Lord and walk humble before your God then he will guide you along his roadmap of your life according to his timing. However, you may discover along the way, a few smudges on your life's map that need to be blotted out. Jesus told a parable about the kingdom of heaven being like a very valuable pearl. A man discovers this pearl and goes away and sells everything he has to purchase it. Notice that when he returns he is totally sold out for that pearl. Jesus desires that we be sold out for God's will and willing to track his purpose even if his roadmap of life takes us from "A" to "Z" and then to "B".

God-tracking is being willing to go the long way round.

Hang in there!

Dudley

Verse of the Week

Matthew 13:44
"The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field."

Quote of the Week
A Sample of Dudley's Fave Quotes

"It seems to me, as time goes on, that the only thing that is worth seeking for is to know and to be known by Christ -- a privilege open alone to the childlike, who, with receptivity, guilelessness, and humility, move Godward." --- Charles H. Brent

Lord, Determine My Steps

Proverbs 16:9
In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps.

Pray
"O Lord God, your ways are right and true. Only your purposes are good. You design my path in life, because I acknowledge you ion all my ways. I apologise for any time that have taken my life into my own hands and tried to work out my beginning from my end. I believe that you're there already at the end of my days. So, guide and shepherd me according to your roadmap form my life. I worship you my Lord and I give you glory for your plans for me. Please direct the plans I make in my heart and, Lord, determine my steps. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen."
