Ephesians 4:29 (NLT) - Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
With our voices we praise our Lord Jesus, we sing songs, we teach others, we shout out to warn someone of danger.
The ability to speak is a gift from our Heavenly Father. Like all of God's gifts we must use our speech wisely.
Think of all the many ways we use our voices every day. If we could not speak, communicating with those around us would be awkward and difficult at best.
God has given us the gift of communication, but we must be aware of how we communicate. We must choose our words carefully and always be mindful of their effect.
Are we speaking love, peace, kindness and encouragement? Do our words help or hurt; build up or tear down those who listen?
We have been given the freedom to choose how we use our gifts. Let's choose to use this gift for His glory and to benefit others.
