Willows sway as lithe stalks
of celery,
poplar leaves trembling
ruffed grouse jerking
forward,
persevering beaks poking
at a new day.
I am a voyeur
to these ramblings,
thoughts as footprints
wife at my side, love
in the air--
weâre partners in the dance.
