How thankful are you? Sometimes in life it's so easy to complain about what we haven't got that we tend to overlook what God has given us.
We tend to be like the Israelites who after crying out to God were finally set free from slavery in Egypt yet they still complained, even saying to Moses that he should send them back to Egypt.
Recently I found myself complaining about certain situations in my life that I weren't happy about and the Lord had to bring me back to this scripture 'in everything give thanks.'
God really appreciates a grateful heart not people who moan and complain all the time. Think about it do you like to be around someone who is always moaning and complaining, always seeing the negative side of things and never the positive? Well I don't know about you but I know I don't, well neither does God.
The more grateful we are concerning the small things there will be no hesitation in God giving us the bigger things.
I know there are times when we go through difficult circumstances that it can be so hard to give God thanks. Believe me I've been there but at the same time I know I have to encourage myself in the Lord as David did, and when we go through circumstances there is always a bigger picture behind it. We may not see it now but when we come through it we will, God knows the bigger picture that is why he states that all things work for good for those that love the Lord and who are called according to his purpose.
When you go through problems give thanks you have the Lord to turn to in prayer that will help you go through your circumstance, there are not many people out there who have the Lord and have to face their problems alone.
So next time you start complaining about your house give thanks that you're not homeless and you have a roof over your head. Next time you start complaining about your spouse give thanks that you have companionship there are many single people out there that are still looking for a spouse. Next time you start complaining about your children give thanks that you were able to have children as there are some women who are barren and would love to have children. Next time you start complaining about having lack of food give thanks that you're not in a country where there is famine.
We need to count our blessings one by one we'll be amazed to see what the Lord has done. Though you might not be in life where you want to be as yet continue to strive for excellence until you reach your goal not forgetting to give God thanks on every life journey.
