1 John 4:16 (NIV) - And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.

God's love is infinite.

Infinite is defined in the dictionary as: immeasurably great, indefinitely or exceedingly great, unlimited or unmeasurable in extent of space, duration of time, etc., unbounded or unlimited; boundless; endless.

In other words, God's love cannot be described or defined. It's a matter of trust.

Even though we cannot fully understand all that it means, we must believe that God is love.

As His children, we must be convinced that He desires a close relationship with each of us. That He is interested in our daily lives; our joys, our struggles, our misunderstandings, our failures.

He wants to be our Father and as any good Father He wants to help us to be the best we can be.

He wants us to seek His advice first when we have a problem or need to make a decision.

He wants to be our confidante and share all our secret longings, hopes and fears.

He wants us to run to Him when we are hurt, laugh with Him when life is good, trust Him when life is hard.

He will carry us when we do not have the strength to go on.

He will be with us when all others have deserted or gone another way.

He will always be patient, kind, gentle, and forgiving with His children.

God's love is all this and so much more.

As we live and grow in His love, we become closer and develop a more intimate relationship with Him. Amazingly, this pleases Him and is His desire.

This is what it is to be loved by God.
