Are you giving your all?

by Marie Grossett

Luke 21: 1:4 'As he looked up, Jesus saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. He also saw a poor widow put in two very small cooper coins. "I tell you the truth," he said, "this poor widow has put in more than the others. All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on." (NIV)

In our natural life we tend to give our best at what we do. For example at work we be inclined to put in an hundred per cent because if we don't it can only led to us getting sacked or not getting a promotion. We know if we do a good job it can only reap good results.

But when it comes to our spiritual life are we putting in the hundred per cent? Just like that widow who gave all she had to live on are we giving God our all?

I have seen people who have a lazy attitude when it comes to church. I'm sure you must have experienced this somewhere in your church life. They come to church late and when they are asked to do something for the kingdom of God they come up with excuses, 'oh I'm not good at doing this 'or' I have to be somewhere that day'. Granted some reasons are genuine but I guarantee when it comes to work they will not be making that many excuses.

God wants us to give him our all, our all in time and our all in effort, he is not looking nor does he want the church to be lazy. We each have gifts and abilities that we can spend our time using for God's kingdom; we must remember that our spiritual life is more important than our natural life. Yes we can strive to have nice things and there is absolutely nothing wrong in striving for the best in our natural life in fact I'm all for it, but let's not forget to strive to do excellent in our spiritual life.

Jesus Christ came down to die for our sins so that we can have eternal life the least we can do is, give him our time, give him our efforts, and give him us. So ask yourself this question are you giving God your all? And if not really think about what is stopping you going that extra mile for God? Is it because you not getting any answers to your prayers, or there are situations that are hindering you.

Whatever it is be open and honest with God about it, remember I wrote in my last article that we need to be open and honest with God. Don't take that lightly because it really does help. Once you recognise what it is and you confess to God concerning it ask him to help you to change your mindset into start thinking more kingdom minded, start drawer closer to him, start desiring him.

God is waiting for you to come to him and to give you his all. God rewards those that are faithful and a reward from God is a greater reward as it is ever lasting.
