The tap-tap of a white
cane resonates like the beat
of a cautious drum
leads a pale-faced boy
through aisles of grocery produce.
Fingers like a hummingbird
poke at various shelves
absorbs each package of crinkle
chin uplifted for unfamiliar sounds.
Mom's rainbow smile
says it all
proud of her son---turned ten
today and 'born again'
during yesterday Sunday service.
