HOMOSEXUALITY FROM CHRISTIAN PERSPECTIVE

Bible says in Gospel of Matthew Chapter 19.3-6 verses," Some Pharisees came to him to test him. They asked, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason?" Haven't you read," he replied, "that at the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female,' and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh'? So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."

What is Homosexuality?
Homosexuality is the manifestation of sexual desire toward a member of one's own sex or the erotic activity with a member of the same sex.
The Greek word "homo" means the same. Most recently the term "gay" has come into popular use to refer both sexes who are homosexuals.
Homosexuality is an illicit lust forbidden by God. He said to His people Israel, "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind; it is abomination" in the book of Leviticus 18.22. It was one of the sins for which God judged Sodom and Gomorrah in Lot's time. It is condemned in no uncertain terms in Leviticus Chapter 18 and verse 22 and in 1 Corinthians Chapter 6 and verses nine and ten.

What should be my response towards Homosexuality as a Christian?
As a Christian my response should be very direct without any compromise and discussion on the logical reasons which the world is giving or discussion or imposing.


GOD MAKE THEM ADAM AND EVE - (MALE AND FEMALE)
The creation story has a marvelous description about God's mind on the human relation and that is why He makes them as a male and female. God did not create male and male or not female and female. This is a very strong reason as a Christian who are already having the foundation from the very first book of the Bible i.e. book of Genesis. Is it not a foundational relationship ordained by God? Today many Christian is confused or contradict because world is imposing on them their ideologies but we have to be cautious ethically, morally and spiritually. Homosexuality has no value. Be alert!
In Old Testament times in Israel God dealt severely with Homosexuals. He warned his people through Moses which is recorded in the book of Leviticus Chapter 20 and verse 13, 'If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads." Every Jew knew that homosexuality was an abomination, a disgusting practices to be loathed, hated. This was God's attitude toward that evil practice. There is the other passage, the prophet uses it to describe God's relationship with his people Israel. In Hosea Chapter 2 and verse 19, "I will betroth you to me forever; I will betroth you in righteousness and justice, in love and compassion."

In the New Testament the book of Romans Chapter 1 and verses 25 and 27 describes God's wrath on the people who are not obeying Him. He put them in unnatural sex activities. It is written, "They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator--who is forever praised. Amen. Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion." Those who know what God desire is , they obey things which God likes. In the book of 1 Corinthians Chapter 6 and verse nine mentions "Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders".
Our stands as a Christian should be clear on this matter. From the beginning God is clear about His intelligent, beautiful and wisdom filled creation. When God created, he said, "It is good". There is no sense of contradiction and confusion in His creation. Even the best intellectuals and scientist or builder or engineer never thought of the creation which God made for all humanity. In God's creation all has a very special. No one can say except unnatural ways of human which disturb the Harmony of God's creation. From small molecule to a biggest mountains from the wide spread of Universe to a deeper ocean every things find a perfect place in God's creation.

GOD COMMANDS ADAM AND EVE TO BE FRUTIFUL
The command to be fruitful in the book of Genesis chapter 1 and verse 28 carried with the implication that Adam and Eve were to have sexual union. In sexuality we are looking to connect with another person to express love, commitment, find fulfillment and even a mystical union. These spiritual and emotional components sex life. Actually, "yadah", the Hebrew word for sexual intimacy, means literally "to know", as in Adam Knew Eve "(Genesis 4.1) (Yadah includes knowledge acquired through the senses, experiences that can be passed on to others, and practical knowledge). Yet David sued the same word for God when he said in Psalm 139 "O Lord, you have searched me and you know me." It has a whole book describing the story of two lovers- the song of Solomon. It speaks of the bridegroom rejoicing over the bride (Isaiah 62.5) and encourages husbands to find sexual satisfaction with their wives and to be always transported with delight in their love (Proverbs 5.18,19; see also 1 Corinthians 7.5). There is nothing sinful about it is legitimate and right. It is because of the impurity always associated with sex in the minds of many that they are unable to to understand how God count permit all this to be included in His word.

Marriage is a kind of covenant where in the man and woman "becomes one flesh". "Therefore a man leaves his father and his mother and clings to his wife, and they become one in flesh (Genesis 2.24). Many pulpit sermon encourage married people to pray together. Many are able to pray while eating, driving, working or laughing but to pray when we are about to make love might appear very different or wrong. We have to notice this very carefully that marriage involves a three way relationship between you, your spouse and God. Sexuality connects creature of God in celebrating intimacy.
How can humanity be fruitful? When we are focusing on infertility like Homosexuality. Homosexuality does not bear the fruit of sex. God denied Homosexuality and ordained a relationship between make and female to enjoy them and be an originator to bring the new generation which is blessed by God. Bible warns every Christian to be alert about the wickedness of the world. It is written in 1 Corinthians Chapter 6 and verses from 7 to 10, "The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated? Instead, you yourselves cheat and do wrong, and you do this to your brothers. Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God."

CONCLUSION
I read a periodical, that in June, 1963 a panel of specialists in medicine, psychiatry, law , sociology and theology participated in a conference on homosexuality called by the Swiss Evangelical Church union. The group reached the conclusion that homosexuality is not constitutionally inherited; it is not a part of one's genetic make up. The ill-founded and unverifiable myth that homosexuality results from genetic cause fading away.
Dear friends we have to take our step forward and stand for the right things and always remember that Word of God is our foundation. So we do not have any kind of confusion or contradiction as to how we respond to the issue of Homosexuality.
