Two Nations

by Steve Countryman

The Bible is divided into two parts, the Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old Testament is represented by the country of Israel. The laws of God were given to the Israelites along with the blessings and the covering of sin through the required sacrifices. All the prophecies about Jesus and the end times are also covered in the Old Testament. The New Testament tells of those prophecies fulfilled through Jesus Christ.

The Old Testament prophecies about Abraham's seed Genesis 12:3 I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you." Genesis 17:3-7 3 Abram fell facedown, and God said to him, 4 "As for me, this is my covenant with you: You will be the father of many nations. 5 No longer will you be called Abram; your name will be Abraham, for I have made you a father of many nations. 6 I will make you very fruitful; I will make nations of you, and kings will come from you. 7 I will establish my covenant as an everlasting covenant between me and you and your descendants after you for the generations to come, to be your God and the God of your descendants after you. The father of many nations means nations other than just Israel.

God's salvation plan through Jesus Christ, His Son, was first offered to the Jews in the New Testament. But upon their rejection of His Son Jesus Christ, God made His salvation plan available to all people of different nationalities and races. This too was fulfillment of Old Testament and New Testament prophecy. Matthew 22:2-10 2"The kingdom of heaven is like a king who prepared a wedding banquet for his son. 3He sent his servants to those who had been invited to the banquet to tell them to come, but they refused to come. 4"Then he sent some more servants and said, 'Tell those who have been invited that I have prepared my dinner: My oxen and fattened cattle have been butchered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding banquet.' 5"But they paid no attention and went offone to his field, another to his business. 6The rest seized his servants, mistreated them and killed them. 7The king was enraged. He sent his army and destroyed those murderers and burned their city. 8"Then he said to his servants, 'The wedding banquet is ready, but those I invited did not deserve to come. 9Go to the street corners and invite to the banquet anyone you find.' 10So the servants went out into the streets and gathered all the people they could find, both good and bad, and the wedding hall was filled with guests.

So God raised up another nation, a nation that was built upon His Ten Commandments. A nation built upon religious freedom. A nation without a king but ran as and set up as a republic. A nation whose founding fathers framed their laws, rules and governing body around God and His Word. Giving God the glory and credit for it's' creation and existence. They made sure that all of their foundational documents mentioned God as this nation's center for their beliefs. This nation was the only one like it found anywhere on this planet. It is no wonder that it is the ONLY nation referred to as a Christian nation regardless what U.S. president says. A nation totally unique because its citizens come from all walks of life, nationalities and races. No other nation matches the diversity of the ethnic backgrounds of its citizens. This nation's prosperity, blessings, military victories, high standard of living, blessings in all areas of art, science, education, inventions and medicine are all tied to God. This nation best represents the rest of the world's people as described in God's salvation plan in the New Testament. Yes, this nation is the United States of America. The Bible states that there are two groups of people on the earth. One is the Jewish people and all the rest are known as gentiles. Just as Israel is represented in the Old Testament as God's Jewish nation so the United States of America is represented in the New Testament as a nation made up of all other peoples, a gentile nation under God. The New Testament is tied to the Old Testament and the Old Testament is tied to the New Testament so is the United States tied to Israel. Amazing isn't it that down through time Israel has had plenty of enemies who constantly plotted their destruction and so it is with the United States of America. It is important that the United States of America always remains a friend and ally to Israel. God bless the U.S.A.!
