Anointed, Respected But Not Exempted; Not lord!

by SIXTUS ONYEANUSI

The work you're about to read came about after I encountered a sister's powerful and humbling utterance. I read through the post and got inspired and stirred to comment on it. So, after commenting on it, God laid it in my heart to share it with others so we all could benefit from it and be deeply taught and touched.

It's for you who's a child of God...

It's for you who's into the Lord's Vineyard...

It's for you The Lord's anointed...

It's for you who's called to help perpetuate the coming revival...and set a Christlike pattern of life for all men both in the Christendom and outside to see through your heart and life the example of humility and maturity.

May God grant you the grace to be touched and re-touched in the area of humility and sincerity in Jesus' Name.

"David wouldn't touch Saul even after all that Saul had done to him just because Saul was the Lord's anointed. But here we are, slandering n fighting against our pastors n those in authority! Dear friend, don't EVER speak or come against the Lord's anointed...it's a dangerous thing to do."

- Sis Chetachi Achugbu

I love your wall post my sister. May God uphold you for this generation, I pray.

David had a deep understanding of what it means to be the Lord's anointed. I respect that attitude God helped him to show forth.

But kindly permit me to say something that could be important to be noted:

...To be God's anointed no doubt gives you some preference and reverence, but it doesn't make you a lord. You are not above instruction, mistake, or correction.

Even though Saul made much mistakes, and even incurred the wrath of God, yet David handled the whole scenario with God's special kind of wisdom. He did not attack Saul's person but spoke openly and boldly yet humbly against his murderous intentions on him.

Oh, how we make the mistake of attacking the person instead of the evil and contrary intentions.

The anointed is respected but not exempted. He is not lord.

When Brother Peter the Chief Apostle erred, bro Paul the least Apostle withstood him, rebuked him and Peter humbly acknowledged his wrong and repented. He wasn't resented, neither did he defend himself, ''how dare you speak to me like that. Look at this young man that I know when he got converted to Christ. Don't you know that I have been in the ministry so many years before you. Know ye not that I'm the Chief Apostle? I was with the Lord Jesus, heard Him speak to us mouth to mouth. He saw all other apostles, but left them all, anointed me with ''chiefly anointing'' and gave me the keys. Ask other apostles and disciples and they would quickly tell you. So, you don't have the right to rebuke me. I am God's anointed, directly anointed by His Majesty Jesus Himself. You are a small boy both in this race and in this ministry. Don't be over zealous. You don't have respect for anointing''.

God bless Peter for us. He knew he was anointed, but also knew quite well that he wasn't lord.

He knew that to be anointed doesn't mean to have God's people exploited, but rather, to humbly demonstrate the kingdom life of humility and all round integrity.

He was the Chief Apostle, but yet mellowed down to dine with the gentiles...he wasn't puffed up by his "chiefly anointing".

Oh, how we err even because of little anointing. When ever we discover that there's something God has given us grace and ability to do, we get puffed up by that and step up to the "upper" seat...no more in the same level with the poor.

In all anointing, Christ had and has it, yet He called and calls us His brethren. He is like unto one of us...He's Lord, even LORD of lords, yet He simply walked with us and will still walk with us as we fulfilled His righteous demand upon our individual heads.

Lord, no matter how anointed you permit me to be by your mercies, let the mind of Christ still be in me; let me not outgrow your chastisement and your instructions; let me not despise the men you have set and sent my way to use as agents to correct and rightly direct me to thy path of righteousness where lies life. Help me to remain broken and open. I know it's seemingly difficult due to the outpouring and in-pouring of the rain and gains of anointing, but do this favour unto me dear Father. Take not away thy child-likeness away from me, lest I become "mature" and develop a rocky and stony heart. Do it Lord if you love me, because I do love you. I do.

Anointing may go, but let not your abiding presence depart from my heart...keep me in your path Gracious Redeemer.

God bless Paul for us also, though Peter erred and he boldly withstood him to save the true gospel, yet he didn't write him off. He maintained the respect and extended the hands of fellowship to him in true love and maturity.

When the anointed errs, don't conclude him. If you can, assist him with the spirit of meekness and reverence.
