"Well Glory!"

by Steve Countryman
8/06/2011 / Christian Living

That is what my dad would always say. Specially when he got "tickled" or blessed in church he would yell out "well glory". Him saying that is what came to mind when God started sharing things with me lately. We are here to bring God the glory. By the way we live, talk, act, react, respond, think and behave. Our character should reflect that of God. As practicing Christians we are to be Christ-like. Matthew 28:18-20 18Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Bringing God the glory by pointing sinners to God. "The Great Commission" is every Christians' job! We are not to be deceived away from it, detoured from it, forget about it, not care about it, put it off or let someone else do it. And it is the number one reason why Satan wants to stop you any way he can!

Satan's most effective weapon is distraction. By keeping you distracted he can keep you from fulfilling the destiny that Father God has set-aside just for you. Everything that we as Christians go through with just everyday living can be a major distraction. I feel that too often I get caught up too much in my daily problems distractions. Sins of distractions like sins of addictions, sinful lifestyles, un-forgiveness, rebellion, fornication and your sinful past will keep you from fulfilling God's destiny for you. They will take over your life, your attitude, your relationships, your job, your health, your thoughts, your emotions and worst yet your prayers. Lately I have found myself having to apologize to God for my prayers being too self centered, too whiny with too much complaining and too much fear. I am so thankful that God doesn't tire from hearing my "poor me" prayers. As if I was standing in a pigpen full of mud and complaining about it as I shovel in more mud and filth. Then to make things worst I do a great big belly flop in the middle of my muddy creation.

God shared a vision with me in prayer the other morning. The vision was that I was holding the end of a large cable that I could barely grip with my right hand. It appeared to be an optic fiber type of cable with a clear outside skin and it was brightly lit. The cable was coming down from heaven caring God's love, healing, deliverance and salvation. In my left hand was the receiver end to that cable waiting to be connected. It too had a clear skin to it but it was a dark cable without any light and it went down below me. As if I were kneeling on a floor of clear glass holding both ends of this cable. Below me beneath the glass floor was thousands of people crowded into a tight space that narrowed down at on end that allowed only one person to pass through at a time similar to a cattle chute. The dark end of the cable was located right at the entrance of that narrow opening. People were going through the "chute" at a fast pace. They all had very worried and concerned looks on their faces as they kept glancing my way. At the other end of that chute was eternity. What I felt at that point was helplessness at my inability to connect the two ends of the cable, which would allow God's love and salvation to flow to them. That is when it hit me like a ton of bricks. How many people would end up going through the eternity chute on their way to damnation because I couldn't figure out how to connect the cable ends. All I could do was cry. Satan will do whatever he can to make sure that you never figure out how to connect the cables of life.

Romans 14:12 So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God. 1Corin. 3:13 their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person's work. 2Corin. 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad. One day all of us His children will have to give an account of ourselves to Him of what we did and did not do for His kingdom. What did I do with my salvation? What did I do with Jesus in me that let His light shine brightly to the lost of this world? Did I put His lamp on a table for all to see or did I hide it under a basket? How good was I at holding the mirror of God? How good was I at connecting the cable ends? How many people ended up in Hell because I didn't share the good news of the Gospel with them? Boy that last one is the hardest for me to swallow because ONE lost sinner is too much!

There are lots of reason and excuses why I couldn't connect the two cable ends. Distraction was at the top of my list. When we get so tied up in the daily trappings of life that losing sight of why we are here on earth becomes way too easy to do. We are here to bring God the glory. One important way for us to honor and glorify God is for us to be obedient to His Word. Obey God's commands and fulfill "the Great Commission". God has decided to accomplish His will through mankind. To do this God needs us His children to be able and willing to obey the leading of His Holy Spirit. To step out with courage and boldness to be a blessing to someone or share our testimony with a friend or a complete stranger. For us to be able to connect the two ends of His cable of life that helps to bring the lost into His kingdom. The secret to connecting the cable of life together is only found in your relationship that you have with Father God!

God the Father wants us His children to grow in Him. He has planted a seed in us of His Son Jesus. For us to grow and mature in Him so that we will bear righteous fruit. For that seed to grow up strong in us we must develop a strong personal intimate relationship with God the Father on a daily basis. A relationship built on seeking God daily in prayer and in His Word. A powerful relationship of faith, trust, love, surrender, commitment, dedication, fear of God and obedience. A relationship that is full of passion to do the will of the Father and an incredible strong desire to know and learn about God the Father, Jesus His Son and the Holly Spirit. You cannot grow in the Lord unless you are willing to invest your time with and in Him. Jesus spent hours with God the Father daily on earth. I look at it as Jesus was getting His spiritual batteries charged up every time He spent time alone with God the Father. Advice, encouragement, direction, instruction, wisdom, knowledge, understanding, power and authority were all part of what Jesus shared and received with love from God the Father in prayer time. That is how we should consider our time "well spent" with God the Father! Mark 12:30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. You will never learn how to "connect the cable of life" or learn how to mature spiritually in the Lord without spending time with Him daily! The way we live, the things we do and say and what we believe in should all bring God the glory. That is why we are here and that is the meaning of life for a Christian! Bless you Father God for you give our lives meaning and a Devine purpose.
