YOUR SWEAT IS A SHAME

by John Seun
8/22/2011 / Christian Living

From the beginning God made everything, made them readily available and easily accessible to man (Gen. 1:26). Then man sinned and God cursed him (Gen. 3:17). God withdrew all the ownership documents He had issued to man and cancelled all agreements and promises He has ever made to man. So men fell from grace to sweat. God made men till and sweat before they eat.

After a while, God had compassion on His creature having seen their suffering and cruelty. Even before He sent His begotten son He had overlooked man's disobedience and has given man back the documents He had earlier withdrawn from them, but this was limited to only those that trust in Him, those that will not worship idols but will listen diligently to His Commandments and do them (Gen. 8:21). This grace was (and still is) extended to ALL through the crucifixion of Christ.

God has no business in your sweat. Sweat is meant for only those who trust in their own understanding. Proverb 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Never rely on what you think you know.
There is no assistant God anywhere and He does not require nor need your assistance or sweat to bless you. In fact, God will always hold His blessings from you once He senses you want to do things by yourself.

You must know that no body knows you better than your maker (not even yourself), He knows what you need and when you need it but many trust in their swiftness, certificates, intelligence, eloquence, smartness, etc. and therefore have shut God out of their lives.

The reason you are sweating in that career of yours is not because you are a failure neither is it because of your sins but because you believe in yourself- "I can do this"- instead of believing in God. Once you realize, no matter how smart people think you are, that you are weak and that you can not do a thing on your own, God will always take your weakness and give you glory.

Remember the story of Moses? Everything about the liberation of Israelites from Egypt is a lesson of how God hates to see the sweat of His people. He could have asked Moses to gather the Israelites and tell them to fabricate weapons and rebel against the Egyptians to set themselves free but no, He Himself fought Pharaoh on their behalf (Exodus 3:6-8). At the Red sea, He could have asked the Israelites to quickly fabricate a canoe or ship that will take them across but no, He parted sea for their sake just by the stretch of a funny-looking rod (Exodus 14:21) and they sang Hosanna all through as if they were working on a rock (Exodus 15). In the desert, God could have asked the men of Israel to dig up well in order to drink but no, He shattered rock and water gushed out just by the stretch of a stick (Numbers 20:1-11) and even punished Moses for using a little bit of effort (Numbers 20:12).

Remember King Jehoshaphat and the Judean won a battle without even lifting a sword. (2Chron. 20:22-25).

Your effort will get you no where but God's grace gets u everywhere. Each time you use effort you miss out on the land that God would have taken you to. Please stop sweating reach for His grace and put an end to every forms of sweat.

I alone am the Lord your God. No other god may share my glory; I will not let idols share my praise. Isaiah 42:8

Anything that tends to take the place of God in your life is an idol. If you trust your job to bring you all the money you need, then your job becomes an idol, if you are rich and you believe your money can buy you everything; your money becomes your idol. Some take pride in their certificates, some in their experience and qualifications. God says He will not let those idols take His place.

Please trust in Him completely and not in your own know-how.
So then, as the scripture says, whoever wants to boast must boast of what the Lord has done. 1Cor 1:31.
You can not help God. You don't even know what you need how then can you even help yourself (Romans 8:26).
That success you acclaimed to your hard work could have been better with God's grace. Please be careful not to take the glory of God, it's deadly.
To end your sweat you need to hand over everything to God.
God bless you!
