MAKE YOUR PRAYER PLURAL part 2

by John Seun
9/02/2011 / Worship

How good it is to give thanks to you, O Lord, to sing in your honor, O Most High God, to proclaim your constant love every morning and your faithfulness every night (GNT). Psalm 92:1-2

Praise is not optional it is a necessity for all men. When you fail to acknowledge Him you equal yourself to Him. Praise, besides being the food and the habitation of God, is a way of showing our humility to God- is like saying: God I know I could not have gotten that job with my eloquence, papers, articulation, etc if not for your grace.

If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the LORD of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart (KJV). Malachi 2:2

My pastor said God defined praise to him with an illustration of a pregnant woman. He said God told him that as a pregnant woman is taken to the labour room when due for delivery to induce the baby to come out so does praise induce God to bless those who praise Him.

Jesus never prayed long prayers. Often, He gave thanks to God and answers followed. The miracle of resurrection of Lazarus from death was not done with long and fervent prayer but with a brief thanks giving and a word of command John 11:41-44. Everything answers to praise. That dead issue of your life, that cancer, that pain will answer to praise; you have prayed enough induce God to action with your praise. God sat on the wall of Jericho and crushed it as the people sang and praised Him (Joshua 6:20).
Anywhere there is praise there is fertility. Praise is accompanied by prosperity and multiplication- Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us. (Psalm 67:5-6). Jesus feed thousands of souls not by prayer but by praise. Mark 6:44: Then Jesus took the five loaves and the two fish, looked up to heaven, and gave thanks to God. He broke the loaves and gave them to his disciples to distribute to the people. He also divided the two fish among them all.
It is important to say at this point that prayer is very important. I am not saying that prayer is an archaic tool in Christianity but when you pray you communicate with God but praise provokes God to action. A prayer-less Christian is a powerless Christian. Prayer is a way of energising your self against challenges and oppositions. A prayer room is a power room, no Christian can do without prayer, when you pray God give you backing to fight a battle but when you praise He takes over the battle. When you need God's urgent attention switch to praise.
God bless you!
