I gather in your skin
Your eyes once downcast at a future
In this land
I shame knowing
My whiteness shines brighter
In the scheme of life but
The arrival of a new President
Brings a face full of shade
Ingested with pride
No longer at the back of the bus
No more
KKK except Martin Luther's
Impossible dream
Slow shuffling to new heights with
Higher mountains to overcome.
