Detours In Life

Ephesians 1:4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. 1Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 2 Timothy 1:9 who has saved us and called us to a holy life not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
You were chosen by God before time began, before the earth was created, before the universe was formed, wow! Just thinking about that blows my mind. You are part of a chosen people, a holy nation, a royal priesthood all of which makes you part of "the big picture" of what God has in store for this planet and mankind. God has chosen you for this time and this place. This applies to whomever and wherever you are in the world. It is by no accident that you are who you are, where you are and when you are. God has carefully and meticulously placed you on this planet at this time and place and "for a time such as this".
To fulfill the destiny that God has for you takes your full cooperation. It is when you go off in other directions, stray from God's path plan and destiny for your life that you end up on detours! Detours are willful choices each person makes on how they will live their lives their way. All detours in your life are by your choice. Regardless how you got there, some where along the way it involved a choice you made. It is no one else's fault! Detours are not part of God's original plan. Detours can be seen as opportunities, new changes, starting over, running away, middle age crisis but are all just poor decisions. They are all most certain to be a source of major distractions, confusion, restrictive, disabling and destructive. Detours will cause you to miss blessings of fulfilling God's destiny for your life. Anything that takes you out of God's perfect will by taking you from His path is always a dangerous thing.
I have heard it said of people, who have fallen into a "back-sliding" life of sin is that, "they are working on their testimony". Knowing that God's path is a safe, well-maintained path, with guidepost, markings and immediate emergency help available, drifting far from His path is not advised. Detours can be deceptive. Detours may even look like a short cut or a good idea. Detours will always take you far away from your path and put you on a path of uncertainty. Detours normally include congestion or tight and restrictive movement. Detours cause you to follow others who are just as lost as you are. Detours will cost you time, money, effort and energy. Detours will limit your effectiveness as a Christian. Detours will take you into areas that are not known for a way out. All of those detours lead to dead ends
Compromise is a form of a detour because it leads you away from God's path and truth. Compromise takes God's Word and blends it with worldly wisdom. Compromise will blur your vision of God's path causing you to loose His path and your way. That is like blending oil and water. If Jesus is the Living Water that you need along God's path and compromise is oil then your vision will always be blurred and you will loose your way. To compromise you must be willing to give up something that you believe in and replace it with a substitute. You however do have a way of escape from your detour and His name is Jesus! It is amazing how great God's love truly is. His love is so big that not only does God love you with all of your faults, flaws, failures and detours but God loves the unlovable too. God loves you very much. He doesn't always like you for what you have done but He never stops loving you. Don't expect God to bless your mess. God does love you just the same and will bless you by helping you out of your mess if you will let Him. Don't continue to waste your time on the road of detours when God has an abundant, exciting, never boring predestined life for you to fulfill! Let God get you back onto His path and away from the detours in life. Are you ready?!?
