The Bridge

by Steve Countryman

John 5:24 "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. God has provided the Bible to us for several reasons. It shows us mankind's history, how life began and that God is the creator of all things. It shows us the close relationship between God and man in the Garden of Eden. It shows us the fall of man and how death, sickness and disease entered the world along with sin. How everything on this planet was affected by that sin, all living and created things! It shows God's love and God's restoration work. God's salvation plan through His Son Jesus Christ and how we are to live as Christians. God showed me a vision of a great canyon that was miles deep. A great separation between man and God that was created when man sinned in the Garden. Man was on one side of what looked bigger than the Grand Canyon and God was on the other side with no way to bridge the two. This was not God's plan for God has always and to this very day desires a close and intimate relationship with each of His children. It is all in how you view the Bible. The Bible is a book full of love, desire, betrayal, heartbreak, restoration and reconciliation. The Bible is a love story about a restoration process. The great lengths that Jehovah God has and is going through to restore the closeness that God and man once shared. Total restoration that covers not only the relationship between man and God but the complete restoration of man. Physical, mental, spiritual, relational and financial restoration of our lives. Part of God's plan is for us to walk in total prosperity right now in all areas of our lives, "A little heaven to go to heaven in." So that we can be made complete in, one in and in the fullness of God!

Man cannot bridge this great canyon that separates God and man. There is absolutely nothing man can do to remedy this horrific mistake of man. But Jehovah jireh, the Great Provider, has provided a way and His name is Jesus. In the vision Jesus stretched himself out across the canyon from one side to the other to form a bridge. This was made possible by the work of the cross. John 14:6 Jesus said to him, I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except by (through) Me. Only by this bridge, Jesus Christ, can man come to the Father! I saw people walking from their side to the other side where God is by walking over this bridge made of the body of Christ. John 5:24 " he has crossed over from death to life.

Once you choose salvation then a relationship with the Father can take place right here and now on earth. It is only possible through Jesus Christ and the work of the cross. Acknowledging who the Son of God is and repentance of sin in your life. God is waiting with gifts of the Holy Spirit, blessings, favor, grace, love, peace, joy and forgiveness for all who will call on the name of Jesus Christ as their master and savior. Everyone serves a master it is either God or Satan. There is NO middle ground. If you say that you don't serve Satan but won't admit that God is your Lord and master then you are serving Satan by default! Who do you serve? "I serve no one!" is a self-deceived lie. Can you let God be God in your daily life? God desires to be a big part of your daily life if you will let Him. God will not force salvation on anyone. God will not force Himself on anyone. God does not desire that anyone should eternally perish but instead have eternal life with Him. The decision lies with you not with God. You have a free will and you can make the choice of whom you will serve. Christianity is no bed of roses. With life's trials, troubles and tribulations that we all face, being a Christian is not an exception. The BIG difference is that Christians have an eternal hope and future with God that the world does not have. Your faith and trust in God verses their fear and doubt of the unknown.

Jesus sacrificed everything for you to have eternal life with the Father. What will you sacrifice for the Father? To sacrifice or give up something in your life for God. Are you willing to give up your sinful life? Are you willing to give up friends who won't like you as a Christian? Are you willing to give up your bad habits? Are you willing to give up all of your fears and doubts? Are you willing to give up being a man pleaser and become a God pleaser instead? God will help you if you will let Him. If you are a Christian but are still battling addictions, old routines that keep surfacing, those things that you have been reluctant to let go of, God can help! It takes faith, trust, obedience and willingness on your part to let God be God in your life to eliminate those troublesome areas. God is the God of second chances, the God of new beginnings and the God of restoration. The Word says that you are more than a conqueror, not more than a survivor. You are so much more than those Christians that you run into who always keep saying that "if they can just HOLD ON 'til Christ comes". Christianity isn't a daily struggle of survival but a daily victory over sin and temptation. Growing in the Lord on your daily walk as God the Father holds your hand to guide and direct you along the way. Are you ready?!?
