Incredible Love

by Steve Countryman

God is love. Everything that God does is all tied to His incredible love! God's very character, His personality traits, God's will, His plan, creation, mercy, grace, powerall that God is and all that God does is because of His wonderful love. Because of His great love God is slow to anger, long suffering, patient, forgiving and compassionate. We are made in His image. We have emotions because God has emotions and is more than what we His creation can comprehend. God's emotions are not on the same level as ours. God's emotions are much more intense, powerful, passionate, sustaining and complicated. God's love never fails. God's love never quits or gives up on you. God's love never changes. God's love never compromises. God's love never weakens and never tires. God's love is forever strong. God's love is rock solid. God's love cannot be shaken. God's love is always freely given. That is why God is abba Father!

God's love is so pure that it is indescribable. Words cannot portray His love. His love is pure, perfect and precious! Just trying to understand but a tiny bit of His love would open your eyes immensely. A love so big that God sacrificed His only Son for your sins! God wants restoration with you. God isn't mad at you or your flaws, faults and failures. God's love is so big that He cares more about your spiritual growth and awareness than your hang-ups. God knows that we are not perfect. He cares more about the condition of your heart regarding your mistakes and how you handle them then the mistakes themselves. We are more concerned with our shortcomings then God is. God eagerly waits for us to get over them and continue to grow in Him. Satan will use them to try to keep you from God. Remember that nothing can separate you from the love of God!

I was thinking one day how great is the restraint of God. For all the times that we His children through the ages have abused God, ignored God, rebelled against God, walked away from God, discounted His Word, doubted God, lacked all faith in God and treated Him worst then anyone deserves to be treated. The bigger the love the bigger the hurt when that love is betrayed and abused. I can't imagine how big they both are. All of the pain and hurt that we have caused God, His Son Jesus and the Holy Spirit. God gave me a small glimpse of that hurt, it was almost more than I could bear. We have given God all of the reasons in the universe for Him to totally destroy us from the face of this planet. But His mercy is new and fresh every morning and that part of God's love holds Him back. What a loving restraint. Praise God for His merciful restraint!

When I read the Old Testament, God's mercy, grace and love continually shined through each story. Every time God was ready to punish His people God always sent them a warning and an opportunity to change and repent so the punishment would not have to come. On several occasions God sent multiple warnings. God's judgement is always the last resort for His people. Even when God passed judgment against His people God's Word, the prophets' prophecies, always included a restoration and reconciliation period that followed. Because God is always looking through time and into the future, He saw the blessings and prosperity being poured out over His people as His Word declares. Because of God's love He is always faithful. Even when man wasn't faithful God is faithful to His covenants that He made. Anyone who complains how mean or hateful God is hasn't read His Word and really doesn't know Him or even cares to know Him!

We are the Temple of the Lord. That is how God created each of us. He designed us that way so that He could dwell in each of us always. God's restoration plan is to get back to that close relationship that man first had with God. "and God's glory filled the Temple". Mark 11:15-17 15On reaching Jerusalem, Jesus entered the temple area and began driving out those who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves, 16and would not allow anyone to carry merchandise through the temple courts. 17And as he taught them, he said, "Is it not written: " 'My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations'? But you have made it 'a den of robbers." When Jesus cleared the Temple He was clearing the outside influences of the world on the Temple. That is what Jesus wants to do with you, His Temple! Remove all the things that the world and religion wants to add to you. To clean you up and wash you in His blood. To make you, His temple, a holy place for God to dwell in habitation not just visitation. God loves you too much to allow you to stay unchanged. It is a change that you cannot do by yourself. Only with the sanctifying process of the Holy Spirit can all of the necessary changes be made. Restoring God's Temple in you that brings you to a higher level in Him! Incredible peace is found in God's incredible love. Are you ready?!?
