Timing

by Steve Countryman
10/07/2011 / Christian Living

Timing is something that is not tangible. It cannot be bought, sold and it cannot be held. Timing can be critical. Timing can be the difference between life and death. Timing is something that some people have a gift for and others who have only bad timing. Timing can be the difference between making a fortune on the stock market and loosing your shorts. Timing can be the difference in landing that promotion or watching the other guy get it. Timing can affect the outcome of some important decisions and is often found in most opportunities. Timing can even take your life.

Timing will test your resolve. Timing will test your endurance and perseverance. Timing will test your patience. Timing will mess with your opportunities. Timing will test your obedience. Timing will even test your faith and trust in your God. We are all controlled by time. From the time we are born until the time we die time is always there measuring. However we serve a God who is not controlled by time. God is not preoccupied with time. God is not bound by space and time because God created time. God operates in and out of time.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. God is always working for your good. God will help protect you from you. I can't begin to recount the numerous times that God saved me from me. Where God stepped in and kept me from making some terrible mistakes. Now that is not to say that God will always do that. Speaking from experience I know that to be a fact. But I also know that if I had made some of those bad decisions or followed through on some timed opportunities that my life would be completely different than it is now. My life would have been so much worst than I can begin to imagine. Then there are those times when God stepped in and spared my life. By holding me up either in traffic, at work, at a meeting or at home that kept me from being in "the wrong place at the wrong time". I can honestly say that I have kept God's angels very busy at times. God's timing is perfect because God is perfect! God is my rescuer and my hero!

Only God is omnipresent. No other creation of God's has this ability. Only God can be everywhere and anywhere all at the same time. God has the unique perspective to be able to hold time in His hands. God knows every possible senario in every situation with every person at every moment at the same time on the planet. To look up and down time as He wishes and to see all of the possibilities. That would indicate that God is in final control. That means that the outcome will be as God desires but it may come through different people than it originally started. God knows the outcome of the Bible for He wrote it and has already seen the future. The cool thing is that God has shared it with us so we will know it too.

God knows the affect that we have on each other in our daily routines of life. God knows that when a person is temporarily or permanently removed causes the cycle of routine to be broken. It could be something as simple as you traveling to work everyday on a bus and the person sitting by you is the one you talk to every day. You didn't know that they look forward to you riding that bus because your great attitude or just a smile brightens their day. When you are sick and stay home you now have created a hole that only you have been able to fill. You are missed! Granted that is a simple example but how very true is it? God knows the beginning from the end and the end from the beginning. The blessing that you receive today God has already blessed you with WOW! God sets aside blessing of every type size and shape with your name on them. How many of them do we miss out on because of our reluctance to respond to God's prompting when timing is important but we were too busy to be bothered.

It is sad that so many Christians don't have the faith, trust and patience in God to give Him the opportunity to answer their prayers His way. Too often we think we know how God should answer our prayers where, who He should use and when God should answer our prayers. We limit God by our selfishness, arrogance and impatience. Then we don't understand why God didn't answer our prayers our way. Impatience with God is an outward sign of your lack of faith! One of the biggest components of your faith is trust. You can't have faith without trust. You trust God to answer your prayers because you have faith that He will. If you have faith and trust in God then you also must trust God's ability, God's will, God's unwavering faithfulness and God's perfect timing. God has a time, place and plan for you! You were born for a time and place such as this!

Even though God is never surprised at what happens because God is in control, God will never do anything to forcibly change your will or your decisions. To allow someone else to be used by God in your place and receive the blessings that were meant for you is totally up to you. God's plans or projects will all come to pass! When there is something that God wants done and He picks someone to fulfill it but they don't respond to His call or flat say no then God will find someone else who will be obedient, willing and available to perform it. God's Will will be done with or without you. With is SOOOO much better because it ALWAYS includes blessings for you! The great basic blessing is that the creator of the universe and everything in it has chosen you to fulfill His will here on earth and has a task for you to do. How awesome is that? Isaiah 46:11 From the east I summon a bird of prey; from a far-off land, a man to fulfill my purpose. What I have said, that I will bring about; what I have planned, that I will do. Like a project to complete a tall building. It takes lots of different talented people to make it come together. People who are skilled in their own talents. But there are always those who have decided that doing this project is not for them and they quit or get fired. They are replaced by someone else who will finish the project. And so it is until all of the work on the tall building is completed. It is your decision to be used by God or not. Will you be one of those who decides that this isn't for you and quits or will you be one who is determined to see the project through to completion? The time is now are you ready?!?
