Deliverance Part 1

by Steve Countryman
11/07/2011 / Christian Living

Deliverance is to be set free. The more I thought about it the more I could see the application of deliverance in just about every situation or condition that exists. Deliverance from all addictions, sins and sinful lifestyles, demonic influences, drugs, alcohol, sex/pornography, tobacco and debt. Deliverance from all sickness, disease, illnesses, medications and doctors. Deliverance from abuses such as physical, mental and sexual. Deliverance from bad relationships, all hurt, pain, disappointments and betrayal. Deliverance from anything that would cause you to be a slave to it or be consumed by it in any way. Deliverance is not available just for some, it is available to you too! Deliverance is a gift from God, it is what you do with His gift that counts!

It is God's will that His children be set free. Deliverance from all types of slavery, bondage, traps, snares and heavy yokes. Because you walk in freedom as a child of God you are no longer a slave to anything of this world. The awesome thing about God is that His plan for you is to stay free. When God steps in and delivers you, those things that you once accepted as part of your life are now gone. Too often Christians accept their situations as God's will. I am here to tell you that anytime you say that or someone else tells you "it must be God's will" you have just heard a lie straight from Hell. It is not God's will! God's perfect will is that you be set free and stay free! You as a child of the King cannot be a slave or in bondage while you are in the Kingdom. You don't have to accept the chains of slavery and bondage but sinners have no choice. Satan wants you to stay stuck in your chains. He wants you to believe that it must be God's will so that you will accept it and remain an ineffective, powerless, crippled and trapped Christian.

Healing is one type of deliverance. Healing deliverance from sickness, from medication and from doctors. When the sickness is tied to sin, consequence of sin, hereditary or generational curses then that must be addressed to allow the healing to be permanent. When God delivers you He destroys the sinful core so it cannot come back. God's plan is for you to stay free. If you re-visit or jump back into that sinful lifestyle you then invite it and the sicknesses back into your life that will trap you back into slavery. In Galatians 5:1 Paul warns us about falling back into the slavery of sin.

Declaring God's will in your daily life as you declare God's promises from His Word out loud. I have heard it said many times that you are committed to what you speak or declare over yourself. Your faith is bolstered every time you declare out loud and hear the Word of God even from your own lips. Every time you read your Bible read it out loud, Satan hates that. Romans 12:2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is, his good, pleasing and perfect will. By reading God's Word daily you renew your mind! It is one of the reasons why you should read your Bible out loud daily. You will be surprised at how God will work in you, to you, with you, for you and through you when you read His Word!

You are made in God's image. God didn't think or wish the universe into existence; He spoke it into existence! That represents the power you have in speaking out loud. It is in the power of the tongue that blessings and curses flow and where deliverance begins! Likewise if you spend time around other people who are negative, depressed, miserable, sinful, abusive or addicts they will have a negative impact on you. "Misery loves company" is a true phrase. There are those people who always have "drama" going on in their lives. Some of them are not looking for any answers or solutions because their "soap opera lives" is how they get attention. They are trapped by choice. All they do is talk about their troubles and blame it on others. They are never willing to accept blame or responsibility for their actions or problems. They want sympathy from others which enables them to continue justifying their sinful ways. That sympathy is like allowing others to declare their problems, feelings and opinions over your life. That will trap you if you allow it. Hanging around such people will eventually rub off on you. Their attitude, behavior, character and feelings will filter into your life and routines.

Deliverance can only come to those who want to be delivered. You cannot do it for them. Like the story of the monkey trap. You take a cage and inside you have an opening just large enough for the monkey to put his hand in but not big enough for his fist. On the other side is a banana. The monkey enters the cage and sees the banana through the hole. He reaches in and grabs the banana but cannot pull it and his hand out at the same time. The only way for the monkey to get free from the trap is to let go of the banana but he won't and that is how you catch a monkey. Like those who are willing to "let go" of the harmful things/sin in their lives and let God set them free. If they wont let go then they are trapped by their problems. It is a matter of the heart and willingness on their part to be delivered. Where God is there is freedom! You are a representative of God's Kingdom and His love. You are a living witness to God's love by the deliverance that you have gone through. You now have the Kingdom of Light impacting those around you instead of them who have the kingdom of darkness impacting you! Are you ready?!?
