Watery sounds linger from
a quickening
rush, rising as echoes
within this valley--
foamy run-offs carve
paths from ancient past
and climbing downhill is a
discovery
of wildness, beauty
where deer hesitate at
foreign movement.
Pushing caution from our
steps and behind a
curtain of mist
we view with adoring eyes
a shelter from man's eternal
drive, a chance to relax
and absorb respite
from the land.
