Dear God Tracker

Be Glorious In Your Dying

Squealing children run through the brightly coloured autumnal fall beneath the regal oak as, caressingly, it sighs upon their heads leaf after leaf of orange, red and yellow. Arms stretched wide the tree resigns to its destiny to be as though dead for the next five months. It's been a good summer. Birds have nested and young have fledged. The sun has streamed upon its majesty in the glow of green but now, now the tree is dying, dying to its former brilliance and yet, somehow glorious in its dying. Beneath the surface it survives and strengthens. Slowly with every passing day of winter its ancient roots take hold, bravely extending deeper and deeper into the earth so that at the next season of green, it will be more secure to boldly reach from glory to glory.

God Tracker, the scripture says, "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me," (Galatians 2:20) and, "He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness," (1 Peter 2:24). Like that oak tree that appears to die when the autumn comes, so we appear to die when we surrender to Christ. You see, we all have that old sinful nature to deal with by dying to self in the promise that we will live in Christ.

Sometimes, though, we are called to go a little further than this. Sometimes God requires that we lay down our dreams or desires for him, too. Sometimes it's for our good that we surrender ambitions and even relationships before we can know God's fresh new life. Like that oak tree surrendering its leaves in autumn only to regain many more vibrant green ones in the spring, maybe God is suggesting that you let go that which you hold close to your heart only to find it again, in his time. And like that magnificent oak in autumn you too can be glorious in your dying.

God-tracking is dying to self.

Blessings

Dudley

Verse of the Week

Psalm 1:3
He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.

Quote of the Week
A Sample of Dudley's Fave Quotes.

"Have you been called to go out on a limb for God? You can bet it won't be easy. Limb-climbing has never been easy. Ask Joseph. Or, better yet, ask Jesus. He knows better than anyone the cost of hanging on a tree." --- Max Lucado

Beside Your Quiet Waters

Psalm 23:2-3
He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Pray
"O dear Lord, I realise that I can't hold onto these things in my life by my own strength. I know that I need to lay them all down for you. Forgive me for living my life tight-fisted. I choose to open my hand and let them go. If they're from you they will return but if they are not then I am pleased to let them go. Lord, I only want what is from you and what is best for me and my loved ones. Help me to die to self that I may live for you. Like a tree in autumn, I want to lose my old leaves to make space for new green ones that will come in spring. From now on, O Lord, lead me only beside your quiet waters. Amen."
