Lord...Give Me the Words!

LordGive Me the Words!

Looking at the subject for a recent writing contest, I found myself wondering how I was ever going to be able to come up with something to write. Download/Uploadwhat? I typed those words at the top of my page several times over the next few days and just sat looking at them, hoping that the words would start to flow. Sadly, however, there was nothing.

I finally gave up and let the words "download/upload" sit undisturbed in my brain for a few daysletting them take root. I would revisit occasionally to feed and water them, but took care to give them space to grow into something I could use.

Over the Thanksgiving holidays, as I was counting my many blessings, I began to reflect on one of my greatest gifts of allthe love of my Almighty Savior. I am so thankful that He is so good to me and that He is there whenever I need Him. Closing my eyes, I began to talk to Him and it was then that it hit me!

What exactly do these two computer terms mean? When I look these words up, I find that upload means to send and download means to receive. This may come across as a little silly to you, but we can apply these technical computer terms to our prayer life.

As we pray, in a sense we are uploading the wants of our heart, the worries of our minds, and our praises to the King. We send everything we have within us to Him. He then hears those prayers, computes everything and begins to work out the answers that we need. Then in His time, He begins to send the answers for us to download into our hearts and lives.

It also struck me how much more I should be uploading for all the downloading the Lord has done in my life. So many times in the Bible, He tells us that if we would but ask of Him, that He would give us the desires of our heart. It blesses the Lord to give us what we wantwhat we need, we just do not take the time to ask.

Therefore, even though it began as a daunting task in the end I am thankful for this contest. It helped to open my eyes to the failures in my prayer life and helped me to grow a little closer to my wonderful Master.
