Christmas time . . .
is in the air
the perfect time
to give and share . . .
There are presents to buy,
gift-wrap and tie.
Lots of good goodies to make,
in hot ovens, they bake.
Need to go out and get a tree,
put up the lights for all to see.
Cards to address and send in the mail,
gotta rush to the mall, for yet another big sale.
With all the planning, that still needs to be done,
this indeed is the season, which keeps us on the run.
For there's still the Christmas play and costumes to sew,
by now, our heads are spinning and our tempers start to blow.
Yes, this is the perfect time of sharing and giving,
but, sometimes we find our attitudes quite unforgiving.
For we forget of the true meaning and the glory it holds,
the birth of our precious Savior so long ago foretold.
In all of the rush of getting ready for the holiday season,
we often don't have time to reflect on the true reason.
We're too busy, too hassled, too tired, too broke,
and for some, Christmas is nothing more than a joke.
We put lights up on our home and our Christmas tree,
but, instead let the light of Christ in you, be what others see.
We give presents and gifts to those that we love,
but, instead let us give the free Gift, that comes from above.
We bake cookies, pies and all kinds of other sweets,
but, instead give your passion for the Lord, to those you meet.
For this is the season that is to be filled with complete joy,
and praise for the gift God gave us . . . Mary's sweet baby boy.
So if you want to make a difference this year,
forget about all the sales and the holiday cheer
and remember the real reason
why we celebrate this holiday season.
