Would I find a cause to shrink back?
Would I turn to this world so dark?
Would I leave the cross of my Lord?
Would I despise His cleansing Blood?
Why should I be ashamed of Him?
He went naked because of me
All that I may stil be redeemed

I'm ashamed of my past
Not the gospel of Christ
Ashamed of my sins of old
Not the Lover of my soul
More grace and boldness O Lord
To preach and live by your word

Vs2:
Would I prefer that rotten life
Or should I choose this risen life?
Would I choose lustful desires
Or to choose this holy fire?
Why should I fall back to the grave
To lay again amongst the dead?
Woe, if for Christ I be ashamed

Vs3:
Would I be ashamed of the KING?
Should I not His praise boldly sing?
Should I ever deny His Name
For fear of death before mere men?
He feared not death, neither the grave
If for Jesus I be ashamed
Before the Father, He'll do same!
