If Jesus Were Into Football
by Deborah Ann Belka
2/06/2012 / Poetry
If Jesus were into football,
He'd get the stadium to sing
an anthem about His mercy
and the love that He brings.
If He were the referee,
He'd toss up the opening coin
and to heaven's eternal team
He'd ask everyone to join.
If Jesus were the coach,
He'd guide the whole team
and teach them how to repent
so each one He could redeem.
If He were the quarterback,
He'd throw the saving pass
and preach the Word to all
right there in the green grass.
If Jesus were the kicker,
He'd kick the winning field goal
by offering His salvation
to each and every sinner's soul.
If Jesus were the advertiser,
He'd take Madonna off the field
and teach her about "real prayer"
until to Him, her heart did yield.
If Jesus were into football,
He'd be in the Hall of Fame
then every knee would bow
and praise His holy name!
