With our deficiencies, shortcomings and inadequacies He can accomplish much
by Shandha Woodard
2/28/2012 / Devotionals

He CHOSE (to select, consider or desire) the foolish, weak, lowly and despised things of this world-1 Corinthians 1:27:28 Niv

I'm a writer yet I CAN'T spell. "Thank God for spell check" is one of my favorite phrases and one that I use on a regular basis. I use it so much that it is usually the first thing that comes out of my mouth when I'm asked to help someone spell something.

My inability to spell prompts me to think of someone else who had an imperfection (by human standards) but who had clearly been called by our Lord and Savior. Who am I talking about, I know that you must be asking yourself that question. Well it's none other than, Moses the great!

You see Moses had a strutting problem and had totally convinced himself that God's summons for him to save the Israelites must have been directed for someone else. In fact in Exodus 6:30 (but Moses said to the Lord "since I speak with faltering {to be unsteady in speech, action or in purpose} lips, WHY WOULD PHARAOH LISTEN ME) Moses actually tried to content with God about this very matter. Thankfully God didn't care that Moses's tongue was a little shaky because He'd already decided that Moses would be the one to incite Pharaoh to let the people go (as the song says).

Let us remember that our defects, faults and or blemishes are the very things that God PREFERS to use to HELP us fulfill our purpose in this life (whatever that may be).

My name is Shandha Woodard. I'm a 31 year old mother of 4 and a former Insurance Follow-up Specialist. I've been writing for as long as I can remember but didn't actually discover my calling as a devotional writer until about 4 years ago, since then life experiences have become my muse for Christ
