Do to others what you would have them do to you-Matthew 7:12 NIV
When most of us think of the Golden Rule we usually associate it with our elementary school days. I believe that this is the first of many rules that we learn when we enter into kindergarten. I'm almost positive that this rule is still implemented throughout our elementary schools today.
Isn't it amazing that little kids can grasp the concept of the Golden Rule so quickly but we as adults have such a hard time putting it into practice? Why is that one would think to ask? Could it be that we're so busy trying to pay others back for what they've done to us that the Golden Rule has made its way to the back of our brain instead of the front? That very well could be!
In Romans 12:17 NIV (Don't repay evil for evil) the Bible tells us that's not the way to go. Who knew that the simple phrase "follow the Golden Rule" could have such a huge impact on how we should live our lives? God did, which would explain why it was put into the good book.
As it says in Galatians 6:10 NIV-let us do good to all people and we should very well do so regardless of what they've done to us!
