They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them-Ephesians 4:18 ESV
Ignorance is bliss! The free dictionary.com defines ignorance as a lack of knowledge, information or education and bliss is defined as extreme happiness or ecstasy. After examining those two words doesn't that phrase sound a little contradictory?
Since we've established that ignorance and bliss aren't in agreement with each other isn't it time that we change that phrase to something that makes a little more sense? My suggestion would be "wisdom is blissful". This essentially means having an understanding that comes from God with an intense joy that gives the ability to discern and make good judgment.
In Job 28:28 ESV the Bible tells us that true wisdom comes from fear of the Lord and that turning away from evil is understanding. Depending on what bible you're reading the word wisdom can be found over 2oo times (KJB-234, NASV-218 & NIV-216). God must have intended for wisdom to be blissful if He allowed it to appear that many times.
Wisdom is sweet to the soul, therefore if you find it you will have a bright future-Proverbs 24:14 NLT.
