Rejection's Challenge
Radiant, glistening in garments of splendor,
He stood now, before Grace’s throne,
Wearing, uncloaked, an air of defiance,
Eyeing, openly, the crown he would own.
The heavens still sparked and crackled
With the challenge he boldly had thrown
Like a gauntlet, at Heaven’s Almighty;
Rejection’s face, darkened, no longer shone.
A hush fell, like a blanket, heavy
On every spirit gathered there
As each waited, in turn, for the answer.
Who’d retain the Lion’s just share?
Judah’s Lion then rose resplendent,
His Princely Presence filling the air.
There never really was any question
Who would be the Kingdom’s heir.
Rejection’s arrogance, though, never wavered.
In defiant pride he stood his ground.
Darkly determined to hold that scepter;
There was a way - it would be found.
Throughout that celestial chamber
There uttered not a single sound
‘Til leering, with a third of the angels,
Rejection leapt, to a new world bound.
In a Garden, verdant with splendor -
Eden, planted with the Almighty’s own hand
Rejection now boldly entered;
It was here he would take his stand.
The clay, fashioned in Grace’s imagine,
Rejection’s object – the strategy planned.
Seeds carefully and subtly planted
Over time would be diligently fanned.
Day by day those seeds slowly sprouted.
An unnatural harvest, unbidden, grew tall.
God-breathed clay took the bait and bit deeply.
Rejection, gleefully, thought he’d gained all.
But Judah’s Lion, from that kingdom eternal
Bellowed out His own challenging call.
And Eden’s clay drank deeply blood’s offering
Marking, grace-less, Rejection’s ultimate fall.
