Written in the dust
by Maria Egilsson 3/26/2012 / Poetry
He bends to draw hieroglyphics
In the dust and grime
That covers the heart
Of the one living
In this world
Of shame
A new story He writes
A whisper of themes
Like love, hope and grace
With an ending that makes a fresh start
And in the midst of the accusers
He writes forgiven
Upon her head
John 8:7,8,11
But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her." Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground "Then neither do I condemn you," Jesus declared.
