There is a Place of Refuge

by Faith C
4/03/2012 / Devotionals

'God is a safe place to hide, ready to help when we need him' (Ps 46:1 MSG).

This Scripture invites us to a beautiful hiding place a place of safety, refuge, peace, goodness, mercy, love, security, fatherhood, friendship, preservation, harmony and much more.

Hide is to conceal, put out of sight, hide from view, secret, veil, bury, cover and screen. To go into hiding is to go underground, take cover, hole up, disappear, and keep cover (English Thesaurus U.S.)

There is so much food in these words and can spend a lot of time in reflection. I encourage you to do so - make it your personal journey.

Friend are you hiding from anyone or hiding in someone or something? Maybe like so many in this world, you have no hiding place no place of refuge. You could be all alone or maybe still alone in a crowd. Do you feel the need to get away from the hustle and bustle of life or hide from life itself? Is there a thirst within that is unsatisfied, and no matter where you look or what you taste, you are still empty?

I believe God is calling us today to stop running, hiding and searching. He stands before us like the Prodigal Father with arms wide open saying "I am here. I am before you. Come home, come to Me. If you want to hide, hide in Me. If you want rest, take rest in Me. If you want direction, read My Word and ask of Me. If you want hope, I can give it to you. If you want answers, spend time with Me and I will guide you. I can strengthen you, I can give you peace. I can nurture your broken body, your bruised soul."

I hear the Spirit moving me to say "Stop My children, My people, stop looking for your refreshment in alcohol, drugs and various addictions. Stop searching for that long lost love. Stop seeking someone to fulfill you. Stop seeking love in the arms of women or men. I am here. I am your Creator, your Father and a friend in time of need. I love you My child, I love all of you. Come hide in Me, come to Me."

Friend I too am thirsty for what God alone can give us. Will you join me and go towards Him today?

"Father God, I ask You to bless us and thank You for drawing us nearer to You. It is true O Lord, that You alone can fulfill and complete us. Father and Lord Jesus, I ask You to reveal Yourself to all that do not know You and who are seeking more of Your Presence and Truth. Send us Your Holy Spirit and direct our paths O Lord. Let us have a mighty encounter with You O God and that by meeting you for the first time or yet again, we will be changed forever. In Jesus' Name I pray, thank You amen."
