you lower your head
your eyes turn away
i know that theres something
youre longing to say
and yet youre afraid

afraid i might listen
afraid of the tears
afraid you must shout
afraid i wont hear

afraid that ill laugh
afraid that i wont
afraid things will change
afraid if they dont

afraid of the silence
afraid if i speak
afraid ill be strong
afraid youll be weak

afraid well be different
afraid were the same
afraid of the healing
afraid of the pain

afraid you will say
what will help me to know
afraid ill respond
afraid that well grow

afraid well draw close
afraid that well break
afraid of the risks
well both have to take

afraid that its you
im likely to find
when you finally say
whats on your mind
