YET I WILL REJOICE IN THE LORD, I WILL BE JOYFUL IN GOD MY SAVIOUR!

"Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
yet I will rejoice in the LORD,
I will be joyful in God my Saviour.
The Sovereign LORD is my strength;
he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
he enables me to tread on the heights."
(Habakkuk 3: 17-19)

Though the fig tree does not bud..

In our spiritual walk, has life ever come to a point where it turns out to be so hard to balance between the standards of the world and the standards you set for yourself as a child of God? Sometimes, the line that separates holy from unholy is so narrow that it becomes difficult to comprehend if compromises would turn us into being one with the world. At the end of the day, do we doubt our own moral stand? The bible says in Luke 2:52 "And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man." Being in equal favor with God and man will always be a tough job for a believer and it wouldn't be wrong to say that many of us fail when it comes to pleasing both at the same time.

Are there no grapes on the vines.?

I remember the bible verse that says "Every tree that doesn't bear good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire."(Mathew 7:19) And it burdens me when I fail in the task that God has entrusted me. No matter how hard we try, sometimes it is just not the right time!

Though the olive crop fails.

Battling with sin even after being saved for years together is a sad state. The more we try, the more we realize that we all fall short of the glory of God when we do it on our own earthly standards. Isaiah 64:6 "And all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweeps us away."

Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Saviour.

Our state may be sorrowful or pitiable, but amidst these troubling situations, the only thing that can bring us real joy is the hope that we all have in Christ Jesus. We may fail today but we should have a hope that tomorrow is going to be different because the Lord has promised to be with us till the end of the ages and through His help, we will be able to conquer the world, conquer sin and live a life lead and directed by the precious Holy Spirit.
Expect great things from God because He is able and He is a man of His word. He will fulfil His promises in due time and set out feet like the feet of a deer and enable us to tread on great heights.

Let not the present situation pull you down, but look ahead in time and rejoice in Him for He is a good God who would do great and beautiful things in the days to come! Look forward with great anticipation because great things are in store for us who look unto Him!
