There lives a woman down the street,
who every now and then I would meet
we'd stop and say our how do you do's
then other interests we'd both pursue.
For years we waved and said hello,
occasionally hidden glances we would throw
we didn't know much about each other
neighbors sometimes can be such a bother.
Then one day the Lord pressed on my heart,
His love for her I needed to impart
so the next time I saw her on the road
I asked her if I could help her with her load.
She smiled a smile I never saw before,
and I walked with her to her front door
she invited me in for a cup of hot tea
and then asked me if Jesus lived in me.
I smiled a smile she never saw before,
and told her long ago we settled the score
she took my hand and held it tight . . .
and together we prayed into the night!
