Life's Highway

Lord sometimes I feel so far from you mired in my sin
Held down by all my failures where do I begin

You told me if I loved you I would obey all your commands
But Lord sometimes I feel so weak I don't think I can even stand

You filled my heart with love and hope and I went out to tell the world
But something happened on that road and to the sidelines I was hurled

Beaten up and tattered I got up and tried again
Only to be thrown out again devoid of all my friends

Doggedly determined I stepped back into the fray
And tried to show Christ's love to them but they turned and walked away

Leaving me standing here while my tears fall in the dust
My broken heart's stopped bleading and is now turning into rust

Lord please come and save me and wash me in your blood
I'm drowning in a sea of disbelief, come and stop the flood

Come and lift me from Life's highway and hold me in your hands
Remold me in your image so I can make another stand

Lord I need a heart like yours cause mine is kind of hardened
Remake it soft to bend and stretch void of all the sin you pardoned

Oh Lord if you would do this maybe I could turn another page
One that reflects my Saviors love full of grace throughout the age.
