Inside the walls of this child abused
Is a soul building protection
Imagination replacing reality
With fantasies of love and affection
Trauma becomes a ritual
Tension his only friend
Withdrawing inside so as not to feel
The terror growing within
Recalling one night the words of a song
His granna taught him last year
"Jesus loves me this I know"
He softly hums, in tears
His little spirit fills with rays
Of hope coming forth with this song
Prayers then flow from a silenced tongue
"Jesus, please, don't be long"
His little heart begins to believe
In things unseen and by faith
Peace calmly overtakes his spirit
Light shines through the window grate
All at once comes a knock at the door
Urgent voices shouting "where is he?"
Granna was there with his big Uncle Joe
And the cowards set him free
Searching for him day and night
Granna finally found where he stayed
Jesus had saved him just in time
From the hands evil made
Spending life in Granna's care
Causes stones in his wall to fall
With the same grace of his Lord above
This child comes to love one and all
No longer hiding within himself
This child grows into a man
No fear now of a life without walls
Reaches out to all those he can
He and Jesus now work together
As they rescue every child known
To be lost, hurt, scared or abused
And building walls of their own
Mark 10:14
"Suffer the children to come unto me, hinder them not, for of such is the kingdom of God."
