Have you ever made a determination based on what others said, or by feelings, or by sight? I am probably one of the worst on this about food. I have always said if I don't like the looks of it I won't eat it. I am realizing that I am limiting myself from good things by doing this.
I realize not everyone likes or will eat a steak. Well, there must be some food out there that just looks so good. Yet, until we take a bite, we will never know will we?
This article is being written to maybe help us get out of the box we are in. Just because we believe or don't believe something else does not make it true or untrue. We as humans tend to limit our self by our thinking. God's Word says "as a man thinketh, so is he". We keep our self in a box or bound by what we think. Just because we have not tasted the steak does not mean that it is not good. God's Word tells us "O taste of the Lord and see that He is good".
Before I met the Lord, I had no desire or even believed that he was real and that I could know him and taste that he was good. I was living my own life. My life was in a box so to speak. I believed what I believed and disregarded anything outside of my box. Little did I know that I was bound to my thoughts. I was in bondage to untruths. I believed many lies. Once again as a man thinketh so is he, ended up being me. Things existed that I didn't realize existed just because I was not open to the possibility of it being true. A good example would be we can live in a house and never go outside. Our world is only in the house. How can we know what is outside the house until we go through the door and experience it? How can we know that water is wet unless we get some of it on us? How can we know that a chair will support our weight until we sit in it? We so limit ourselves by our thinking. Did I really believe that God was real? Did I really believe that I could have a relationship with someone that I could not see and that He would talk to me and guide me? To my head this was not possible. For me at least, I had to get to the end of everything that I believed and found out that it didn't work the way I figured it would. Only then did I become open to the possibility that there was more. I had to taste of the Lord and once I finally did I found out that He was good.
There are many things in the Christian walk that we have not experienced. Just because we haven't does not mean that they are not real or true. Many in the church don't believe in spiritual things. They don't believe in the Holy Spirit or demons. They can't see them so they are not real to them. Someone may have told them that this is not real. God gave you a mind so use it they are told. Truth sets us free. We are not to be dependent on our mind but we are to have the mind of Christ. Scripture tells us to "let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus". Our Christian walk is supposed to be walked with the mind of Christ, not ours. We are so caught up in pleasing self, thinking this is life, that we have blocked true life. When we pray do we ask God for things that we want or think should be, or do we ask Him to show us what He wants instead? Who are we living for? Do we live for our self and our pleasure or do we desire to live for Him? We so box God in. When I found out that the Holy Spirit was real and I could experience and know His power working in and through me it was a glorious day. When I realized that demons were real and that my fight was not against mankind but was against principalities and powers it changed my life. If demons are not real then obviously we don't use our authority in Christ and deal with them then do we? They win over us and keep us bound by their lies. When you experience seeing a person set free from many things by going through deliverance from demons and see them now happy and productive, it will change your thinking. Did I want to believe that this was possible? Really I didn't, but once I tasted of it I saw that it was a good thing. Somehow as a Church our eyes must get opened. There are things available to us that will cause us to win that we have believed are not even real. If someone came up and gave you a present you would be thankful, correct? Well until you receive the present and then open it, and then use it, it would do you no benefit. God has given us many presents. We need to open our minds and the present and see what He gave us. We need to use these gifts as they are only for our good.
If you have never met Jesus, I pray that you will open your heart and mind to the possibility that maybe, just maybe, He is real and loves you and wants to save you and give to you a new life. Open the door. Give Him a chance to show you what is available to you. You will never know until you try. Is Heaven real? Is there life after death? Is hell real? Is eternity real? Are demons real? You can keep yourself in your box and miss all that is available to you. God gives us the opportunity but we must act on it. Take a step of faith that maybe what I have told you could be true. What have you to lose other than your pride that maybe someone can share something with you that is true that you didn't know. I am so convinced that if you give God a chance that He will prove to you what is true and real. You have listened to man long enough. You have listened too much of the false teaching of churches long enough. Don't you want to find out for yourself what is real and true? Open your mind and heart and allow Jesus to show you. You will not regret it.
I am a 63 year old Born-Again spirit filled Christian, that has been saved for 30 years. Jesus found me when I was suicidal. I learned real quickly that I was powerless to be in control of my life, so I let Jesus take over. He has chosen me to be a warrior for Him. WE win, if we fight His way.
