THESE WORDS ARE NOT PROMISES; THEY ARE REAL!

by John Seun
8/27/2012 / Christian Living

Once upon a time, there were two friends (Tim & Josh) who went in search of what the future holds for them. They decided to consult a very reliable psychic (in their time) to help them predict the future.

After several card readings the psychic turned to Tim and said "you are going to be a very great man, very rich and wealthy that nobody will be able to match your fortune" but to Josh she said "oh! What a pity. You are growing to become a very poor man and you will need to rely on your friend to feed".

Hearing this revelation, Tim became so relaxed, he stopped working and studying. He would sleep all through the day when others are on their way to the farm and school because he believed the future holds a very bright light for him (he is going to be wealthy). Josh on the other hand, motivated by the sting that he would have to rely on his friend, became so addicted to work. He worked very hard and studied very hard.

Ten years had passed and the two friends had grown apart, they had lost contact after the completion of their high school. One morning, as Josh was working to his office on the fifth floor of a five storey company he built, he spotted someone he was damn sure he recognized scrubbing the floor and desk at the reception and he called out 'Tim?' Behold it was his childhood friend who, according to the psychic, is suppose to be the wealthy one.

Many Christians often use the phrase God's promises when talking about the Bible but I have found this phrase to be erroneous. The Bible does not contain promises of God but in actual fact it contains things that are very real. His words are not promises but instant results you get when you follow the approved path. Your employer can not promise you your wage- it is your right, but to get it you have to fulfill your own ends of the contract by working. Most importantly, you don't promise your son or daughter food, it is their rights to be fed by you.

Encarta dictionaries defines promises as 'an indication that something is likely to happen' but the Bible contain certain words of God. He has spoken the word we are the ones procrastinating. It is a form of excuse to say 'well, I am strong and standing on the promises of God'. You are born a conqueror and created to dominate. You have license to BE (John 1:12), it is your choice if you want to use it or not.

God speaking in Isaiah 60 proclaimed a lot of blessings (what some people will call promises) and it ended in verse 22 by saying I the LORD will hasten it in his time. He meant to say when you are ready. They are not promises because if they are many people would not be enjoying it already. When you are ready for God, He is ready for you. He does not wait until you attain certain age or you suffer certain length of persecution, No! He is ready when you are ready. Have you not seen people that became millionaires when they were in their early twenties? Are they not enjoying their wealth today? Have you not seen or heard about people who got married at a very tender age and still have a fantastic family? You don't have to be forty something before you enjoy the privileges of being a child of God.

The word has gone ahead it is your duty and obligation to tap into it. All you need to do is hearken diligently to the word not hold on to the promises if not you may die expecting. Deut 28:1; 29:9. When we get a revelation in the Holy Scripture it should produce instant result(s) in our lives but we have to work toward its realization and not to just sit like Tim in the story above waiting on the promises.

For instance, I am 100% sure that when I turn my switch on it must produce light unless there is power failure (unbelief). I will be surprised if the light does not respond as I touch the switch, and, as a matter of fact, I need to invite an electrician (Holy Spirit) to check and detect where the fault comes from. Just as there will be total blackout if I did not turn on the switch, my life will not change until I work the Word to produce result. The letter kills but the Spirit of God giveth light (2Cor. 3:6).

God is not like people, who lie; He is not a human who changes his mind.
Whatever he promises, he does; He speaks, and it is done. Numbers 23:19

The words of God are real; many around the world are enjoying it already. Why must you waste away by waiting on something that is already yours?

Many of us will remember Sir Isaac Newton Laws of Motion.

Law 1: All matter continues to be in a state of rest unless a force is applied. That cancer will not go until you work what was written concerning it- I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be of good health. That thing that the Lord has not planted shall be rooted out of your life in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.

Please don't wait; you have the right to take what is yours. Your dominion is mandatory it's not optional. You are created with a success gene. You were regenerated when you accepted Christ as your Lord and savior. Don't be tricked.
Remain blessed
