We Walk The Way of The Kingdom

Haki Madhubuti, a poet, essayist, educator, and publisher, strived to solidify his distinctness of black life, black survival, and commitment to the values that lead to cultural wholeness of the individual and the group. He promotes change that is expressed through his works.

Haki Madhubuti's career began with his first volume of poetry that was published in Think Black. One of the pieces from the book, "Back Again, Home: Confessions of and ex-executive" speaks to a sense of awareness and rebirth, a call to revolutionize one's thinking. The message remains a constant in his work. From the beginning, he has challenged those values that are destructive of the individual and the culture and has called for rejections. In 1970, he published We Walk the Way of the New World, a collection of poems that continues and expands upon the themes of black life, black survival, and commitment from his earlier works. However, this collection also speaks to a rebirth on the collective level. The poem suggest that the journey for Black people in the United States has been a journey marked by elements of self-hatred, non-acceptance, and the enslavement to empty capitalistic values, but that black people emerge as "owners of the New World."

Haki Madhubuti has been assessed as significant at keeping before his audience those values that lead to renewal and survival. In the year 1973, Haki Madhubuti changed his name from Don. I. Lee to Haki Madhubuti, and name that means "justice," "awakening" and "strong" in Swahili.

After, I consider those words, my spirit echoes with the inspiration of the life of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ emerged as the owner of the new world. He is the example of God's divine plan and purpose. The ultimate purpose of God is to bless and to recover humanity from the effects of a fallen world. It is to also establish His glory. Thank God for Jesus, who is the clear revelation of His word and His purpose.

As amazing as it is, God chose us! His purpose for choosing us as His special treasure is declared in scripture. We are called to be an example and an outlet of blessing to the rest of the world.

He walked in love; yet He challenged the culture and theology of the time. He did not walk the way of this world, He walked the way of Kingdom. Walking the way of Kingdom means LOVE, JOY, PEACE, LONGSUFFERING, GENTLENESS, FAITH, MEEKNESS, AND TEMPERANCE. In addition, this means solitude and non-acceptance.

In John 17, Jesus Christ prays for Himself, His Disciples, and for All Believers. These prayers encourage us as we continue to Walk the Way of Kingdom.
