While observing a spider I had this thought. A spider works hard to build a web and then just sits there. It is a great example of patience and of faith. If something does not come into its web then it would die of hunger. It takes great faith to do this. It is putting its life in the hands of its web. If it didn't work a spider would not live very long.
The Word tells us to take no thought of what we shall eat, drink or wear in Mathew 6. God says that He knows our needs and will take care of us. The spider seems to have this principle down much better than humans. If the Lord will take care of the spider and cause its prey to come into its web, it seems that He would cause us to get food when we are in need as we are much more important to Him than a spider. The word tells us to have the faith of a mustard seed. That is little faith. As we grow in the Lord, we need to take on the fruit of the spirit consisting of faith and patience. We need to have the faith of a spider. If a little spider can do this then shouldn't we be able to trust and believe a God that not only saved us but has always taken care of us? We are still here today so regardless of the methods and timing God has taken care of us or we would have died long ago. It takes faith to please God. Maybe we should just set a plate on the table and trust God to fill it with a meal.
I am a 63 year old Born-Again spirit filled Christian, that has been saved for 30 years. Jesus found me when I was suicidal. I learned real quickly that I was powerless to be in control of my life, so I let Jesus take over. He has chosen me to be a warrior for Him. WE win, if we fight His way.
