The Problem Solver from Above

by
5/17/2007 / Christian Living

Daily, we confront many different problems with different levels of difficulty to resolve. Somewhat, we discover most times similar problems may not have similar applicable solutions. It comes to a point, when we begin to lack ideas on the myriad problems in hand. Sadly, that is when we start to search and rely on God.

I have come across times, whereby the practical solutions to this problem should be as such as this and that. After all, I was groomed and grown-up, with good education background and considered having a sound mind as well. Yet, my paper qualifications, moral values, and cultured background fail me. I made decisions that seem to satisfy one group of people and myself in one problem, but not materialized in another similar one. My heart starts to question, whereby I have the true capabilities to perform righteous judgments or decisions. Then, did I turned and inquired of my Lord, the Righteous One.

God pointed out in the bible scripture that "all our righteousness, are as filthy rags" (Isa 64:6). HE was direct and straightforward in HIS statement. Truly, truly do we have the capabilities to make decisions with godly wisdom, knowledge and understanding, as Jesus Christ did on earth? HE mingled with the group of sinners and tax collectors. HE considered those who perform HIS will as HIS "mother, sister and brother" (Matt 12:50). And HIS team comprised of twelve humble disciples, of which none with Pharisees, Sadducees or scribes (those who were familiar with the laws of Moses and bible scriptures) background.

Even for a person of a sound mind, it would sound illogical to stress on spiritual salvation with freedom and liberty to the Israelites, while they are under the Roman Empire's reign. Getting learned men to be in HIS team, would have provided extra advantages; good communicators, smart teachers, and respectable by the community. Yet, Jesus Christ careful choice of disciples was akin "man look at the outward appearance, while God looks at the heart" (1 Sa 16:7). God is pleased with those who fear HIM and hopes in HIS mercy (Psa 147:11).

God's decisions are strong, firm and grounded in spiritual truths. When men condemn or persecute HIM, HE prayed and fasted, to further hear and obey HIS Father's instructions. HE knew though HE is not the well-favored man in town, but HE is, in the eyes of HIS Father ("This is my beloved son, in whom I am well-pleased" - Matt 3:17). With that, I learned to surrender my problems onto God, the Mighty One and seek the counsels of God by the Holy Spirit. After all, "My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways" says the Lord (Isa 55:8) and HIS are highly superior to ours.

Oh God! Come and take charge of our problems, so that we might follow after your footsteps to made righteous decisions. Though our problem solving capabilities may not be comparable to yours, but we placed our trust, hope and faith on yours instead. After all, no man has invented the "ultimate" problem solving techniques yet while you have already created the humans, the heavens and the seas. Bless us, oh God! with your comforting peace, spiritual strength, heavenly hopes and mountains of patience, to become children after your own heart. Amen!
