Peace Robbers-Identifying The Little Foxes That Rob Your Peace Of Mind

by Ngozi Nwoke

What can rob your peace of mind? There are little foxes that you must beware of if you want to consistently be at peace. These foxes when not warded off have the power to destroy whatever they can lay their paws on. Therefore it is most important that you identify and deal with them.

Catch us the foxes, the little foxes that spoil the vines, for our vines have tender grapes. - Song of Solomon 2:15 (NKJV)

Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. [Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.] - John 14:27 (AMP)

God has given you peace of mind through His son Jesus, but you need to diligently guard your heart in order to keep away anything that may trouble it. The root cause of no peace is lack of focus on Jesus, the Prince of peace. Anything that aims at taking your focus off Jesus is targeting your peace. Therefore, you must ensure that you deny these little foxes access to your heart.

The peace robbers

1. Love of money

Money is good but when you put it before God, it becomes destructive. When money becomes your god, it takes control of the running of your life. You tend to have misplaced priorities; nothing else will matter to you. For instance, your relationships, family become not important, which will eventually lead to family or relationship breakdown.

Also, your mind will be so pre-occupied with how to make this money, stressing you up that it will have a negative pull on your health.

2. Contention

Contention is a common little fox that robs people of peace of mind. You cannot have strife and have peace at the same time. One must give way for the other. Once contention steps in, peace steps out.

3. Cares of life

Worrying about what to eat, drink or wear, or about paying bills, etc, robs your peace of mind. Anxiety has no record of offering solution to problems, instead it's known to compound issues. Yes, do whatever is right within your power to solve the problem but ensure that you do not step over to anxiety. Allow God to take care of that challenge for you.

4. Fear

Fear precipitates no peace. Fear of failure or the unknown, etc torments the mind and slows down progress. Fear says, "God step aside, you can't solve the problem" Fear takes your focus off Jesus and places it on the challenge facing you. It troubles the heart and dispels your peace of mind.

5. Low self-esteem

Low self-esteem troubles the heart. It affects your relationships and breeds insecurity and inefficiency. You need to see yourself as God sees you: you are fearfully and wonderfully made, you are the head and not the tail, above only and not beneath. God has made you a king and you shall rule on earth.

Do not allow the lies of the enemy about you to steal your peace, neither allow the opinions of people to form you. Agree with God's declaration of you and your self-esteem will improve tremendously.

6. Unfulfilled expectations

Many times when people don't realise their expectations, they tend to lose their peace of mind. It could be that people failed to meet up with your expectations of them or your heart desires were not met. Whatever the case may be, you should not allow unfulfilled expectations to rob you of your peace. You have need of patience to receive your heart desires.

7. Lack of spirituality

Lack of spirituality takes away your peace. Dwelling in the flesh removes your focus from Jesus, the Prince of peace. Walking in the flesh is to walk into the challenges facing the world. A carnal mind is enmity against God and so cannot discern the ways of peace nor follow them.

8. Wickedness

A wicked heart cannot have peace of mind. God has judged the wicked and pronounced no peace to them. Wickedness is of the devil and peace of God: Both of them don't go together.

Depart from your wicked ways and peace will be restored back to you.

9. Disobedience

To love God is to obey His commands. Disobedience to God and His word is another little fox that robs you of your peace of mind. It keeps the Prince of peace far from you. Obedience distinguishes you as a child of God and qualifies you for the blessing of God which includes peace.

10. Unruly behaviour of children

Children that are not disciplined will always be sources of concern to their parents, the society and the world at large. The insecurity in the world can be attributed mainly to the unruly behaviour of people not disciplined when they were young. Therefore, train your children now and they will give you rest in future.

In conclusion, though these little foxes have the power to rob you of your peace of mind, you can stop their activities in your life. Diligently and honestly examine yourself to identify which little fox is stealing your peace and cut it off.
