I AM THE WAY

I am the street
where half the windows are boarded up.
Nobody wants to move here any more
and the police daren't walk the beat.
The church at the end of the street
has started a drop-in centre
for people who're cold or lonely
or scared their baby will be an addict.

I am the country lane
leading past the farm
where the farmer shot himself
after five seasons of drought.
He left a wife, and three sons
who moved to the city long ago.
The chapel organised a rota
so his widow is never alone
while the farm is being sold.

I am the busy road
buzzing with commuters
speeding to jobs they might not keep.
Another accident at that junction
not the kind of thing you like to see
between breakfast and the office grind.
Paramedics cope as usual,
bringing comfort to the wounded.

I AM THE TRUTH

I am the truth
which shines through every law
that helps the weak
find justice from the strong.

I am the truth
which parents know is abused
when soldiers die in wars,
while leaders stay at home
and promise to tell the truth,
but rarely do.

I am the truth
which can be owned
but not possessed,
professed
but never sold.

I am the truth
which is never
more important than love
because the truth which I am
IS love.

I AM THE LIFE

I am the life
conceived in the mind of God,
birthed in the heart of God,
lived by the grace of God.

I am the life
given never earned,
lived when self dies,
found when not sought.

I am the life
thats a surprise,
yet the life meant for you.
Open your eyes
and youll find me.
Im here all the time,
finding you.
