THE TRUTH THAT SETS YOU FREE

by James Manning
1/02/2013 / Christian Living

The scripture teaches that there is power in the knowledge of the truth to set men free, if this is so, why is it that we do not see people experiencing the kind of freedom that the bible speaks of.

The bible teaches that the knowledge of the truth will set or make you free from sin, and what does it mean to be set free from sin?

To be free according to the bible is to be freed from sin, and to be free from sin is to live an error free life,

Now remember, we are talking about the operation of God, this is a God thing, and all things are possible with God. Why would we doubt God?

Let's take a look at this and see what the scripture says about this subject.

Ever Learning

2 Timothy 3:7
Ever learning, and never able to come tothe knowledgeofthetruth.

At some point in all our learning we must come to the knowledge of the truth, and what exactly does it mean to come to the knowledge of the truth.

First of all we must understand, that to have to come to something is to say that we are not there or that we are away from the thing that we need to come to. We are ever learning but we are not arriving to the truth that makes or sets us free.

It Is The Will Of God

1 Timothy 2:4
Who will have all men to be saved, and to come untot heknowledgeofthetruth.

Notice, there are two parts to the will of God given in this text, first, it is the will of God that all men be saved, and then we have the three letter word 'and', and is a conjunction. A conjunction ties the previous statement with the following statement, and usually brings us to the meaning of the previous statement.

Who will have all men to be saved, it is the will of God that all men be save and it is just as much the will of God for all men to come to the know of the truth. Which is to say, that you can be saved and not come to the knowledge of the truth.

What is this coming to the knowledge of the truth? To come to the knowledge of the truth is to come to the place where you experience your salvation. Which is to say that you can be saved and live and die without ever experiencing your salvation here on planet earth, Remember, to truly experience your salvation is to live free from sin, sin is not to have dominion over you.

There Remains No Sacrifice

Hebrews 10:26
For if we sin wilfully after that we have receivedtheknowledgeofthetruth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,

Now get this, if I sin after I have been set free from sin, there is no more sacrifice for sins on my part. What he is saying in this text is that once the knowledge of the truth sets you free, you will not commit a single ace of sin from that moment on, because you have been set free. For you to sin after being set free would leave you without hope, but he who the son sets free is free indeed.

And The Truth Shall Set You Free

John 8:31-36
King James Version (KJV)
31Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
32And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
33They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?
34Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
35And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.
36If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

If you go back in this context you will find that he is talking about being free from sin. The key that unlocks the door allowing you and I to enter into this truth can be found in verse thirty one,

John 8:31-36
King James Version (KJV)
31Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;

Both the condition and the key is in the word 'continue', the word continue is also translated to abide or remain and it is a fix position, and it is a position that the church is yet to enter into. We can enter end only as we hear and understand what the word of God says on this line. As we hear with understanding what the Spirit of God is saying he will make this a present experience.

It's your choice, you can live here as a saved person, and have your salvation manifest in the future, or you can come to the knowledge of the truth and experience your salvation right now, the choice is yours. And when I speak of experiencing your salvation right now, I am not talking about getting a healing hearing and there, or maybe have a financial blessing pot up, but I am talking about you being free from sin, and living in this freedom here and now on planet earth. When this take place you will never be sick again, and you will never have to concern yourself over your finances ever again, because all these things will be added unto you, you'll be living the kingdom life.

Knowing This

In order to come to the knowledge of the truth there are some things that you must know.,

Romans 6:5-6
King James Version (KJV)
5For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
6Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

You must know with understanding that when Jesus died, you also died with him, you were exactly as he was bodily in death, and in the same manner you are like him bodily in his resurrection. This is literal, because you are bone of his bone and flesh of his flesh, therefore, what happen to him also happen to you. When God through the Son became a man he put on the likeness of sinful flesh, he became flesh and bone just as all other men, so that what he did in his walk on earth, his death, burial, resurrection and ascension we were there with him in the same.

Romans 8:3-4
King James Version (KJV)
3For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
4That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

What Jesus did in the flesh he did for us all, and the only way that he could do that he had to become what we were, he was made to be sin, he came in the likeness of sinful flesh, so that we can be in the likeness of his resurrection, and we must know and understand this.

Freed from sin

Romans 6:7-8
King James Version (KJV)
7For he that is dead is freed from sin.
8Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:

If you died with Christ then you are free from sin, in verse eight it says, it you be dead with Christ, now we know that Christ is no longer dead, but he is very much alive bodily, so it should read, if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him. Live with him when?

If we died with him, (past tense) then we should live with him bodily right now in the present, you must know this with understanding.

Now remember this, It is through understanding what you hear that you receive what you hear as a seed. You have not received the seed (God's word) until you understand it, and as long as you go without understanding what you hear it is subject to being taken away from you. Understanding comes through consistently hearing of God's word.

Knowing That Christ

Romans 6:9-10
King James Version (KJV)
9Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.
10For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.

Jesus experience, is your experience, and to come to the knowledge of the truth is to enter into his experience in death, burial, resurrection and ascension, as he is so are you. The death experience has passed, and Jesus has entered bodily into the resurrected life, he experienced death once, but in that he lives he lives unto God. This is the present experience of the body of Christ here on planet earth.

Likewise

Romans 6:11-12
King James Version (KJV)
11Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
12Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

Likewise means, in the same manner that in happen unto Jesus, you must consider yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Remember, to come to the knowledge of the truth is to enter into the experience of your salvation. And the way to come to this knowledge is to hear with understanding. The ability to stop the reign of sin is within you through the person of the Holy Spirit of God, you have the power.

He who the Son sets free is free indeed!!!
