without saying goodbye
to family
then simply dying

a rabbit -- fox day ending
badly for one.

The day began with the sun
wrestling for attention
in the crisp of air

and a donut on this Sunday
afternoon not aware
of life diminishing in a copse
not so far away.

See people and plans
on a wooden walk covered
in snow

a little town flavour
keeping pace with its heritage
and a milkshake
after church a special treat.
