I Stand and Testify

by Reverend Wanda Shoap
5/26/2007 / Testimonies

I stood, in what seemed like the middle of nowhere, a field where there was not a tree, a building, a hill or a mountain that could be seen. Nothing but that vast field of knee high scorched brown wheat that looked as though it was ready to be blown away to nothingness. I stood there as though naked, yet fully clothed, scared, alone and abandoned. Above, the sky darkened. The thunder heads were back to back, building bigger and becoming huge. There were no birds in flight, no sunlight seen. Spirals formed into twisted rings of threatening funnels, reaching from above and searching for the earth below. I shivered with fear. There was no time to run, no protection, no shelter in sight. Winds force grew stronger, over powering, surrounding about me, yet there I stood.

Howling wind was beating against my eardrums, my eyes were unable to stay focused, my legs turned to rubber. Weakness had spread throughout my body, like an oversized flower with its dried and weakened dying stem. Lightning bolts, flashing streaks of fire, crackled down from the heavens to embed themselves in the dusty earth. Tremendous, burning lightning strikes, pummeled the earth around me. Those hitting their mark split the ground open and left smoking brands. Then Ka-Boom! I was hit. I was thrown to the ground, breathless and mangled.

I'm dead but I can see all around. People gather to look upon my burnt, charred remains. I'm unknown, my face has been removed, melted and bones are showing everywhere. No more hair, eyes are gone, fingers and feet have vanished, every part of my human body has been turned to near dust. Faces of strangers start passing by just looking dazed. I then see my remains being placed inside a black body bag, placed on a cart and taken to the morgue. There is no one to claim my body, I've been unclaimed and I'm watching what is left of me being placed into an urn that's imprinted with the word - Unknown. Then Darkness engulfs me, it is pitch black, a darkness I've never seen before, it's colder then cold, silent, oh so silent!

Wait, I see a shining light, brighter than I've ever seen. It's reaching through the blackness, it's surrounding me, it's covering me and slowly lifting me from out of the depths of the unknown. My ashes are body again. I see green lush pastures with flowers arrayed like rainbows. There are crystal clear waters around a mansion on high. I see God's throne and the elders standing by His side. Christ had renewed my body, making it into spirit. I'm humbled by His glory and in awe of His brightness and compassion. There I now stand, looking, wanting to kneel before His Grace. He speaks softly but with command. "My child you have seen what I have shown you of the flesh. Without Me there is no Hope, No savior, No salvation, only eternal death of the soul, ashes and dust you would therefore remain."

There I stood in that spirit body, wanting to be made of the flesh body and to be released of the fate that had been shown to me. That nightmare fate of hopelessness, eternal nothingness, dust and ashes, that could be blown across the four corners of the earth or trod upon by the Most High. God then speaks again. "My child, I have shown you these things, to make you wise, to give you understanding, to lift the veil from your eyes and to open your ears to hear. Since I've shown you these things, I now return to your earthly flesh and command that you obey Me."

Here in the flesh body I stand to testify. I speak unto those that will hear His words. I shout for joy of His light, His Truth. I am still mortal and liable to die, yet I'm full of Hope, trusting in Faith and Shining in Christ!
