EQUALITY AND LOVE

We hear a lot about Equality and Love these days particularly when it comes to the law and sexual orientation. Before Charles Darwin introduced mankind to an alternative way of looking at the world and the universe in the mid 1800's, everyone was religious, atheist or agnostic. Of course there were other 'scientists' like Charles Lyle, from whom Darwin took many ideas, but until these scientists came upon the scene, most people either believed in a creator God or didn't. The very foundations of Christianity were shaken and many gave up their faith to follow the new 'modern' scientific thinking. The fear of a judgement to come was now gone. The Bible to many, became a book of history and fables which only superstitious minds would believe. The established churches didn't give up the fight for the hearts and minds of their flock, but they found they were fighting a losing battle. What could they do to ensure their pews were full every Sunday? They had to adapt to the new scientific way of thinking. Evolution and Creation are compatible, they say. God set in motion the universe from a big bang and from this came the Sun, the Earth and the Planets. It is reasonable to assume that if life evolved on Earth in its present forms, then there must be other planets that have life upon them? Therefore, scientists must turn their attention to finding ways of exploring other planets to prove their theories of how life evolved on this planet. Billions of dollars are being spent on space exploration whilst millions starve to death on Earth.

Theologians and the Bible

Although still worshiping a creator God, many theologians now accept the scientific explanation of how life began and the book of Genesis, they now say, is an allegory. This reasoning has paved the way for the diminishing of the Bible's authority as the infallible Word of God and has led to a watered down; no final judgement, Christianity. Paragraphs in the Bible that do not conform or agree with modern day thinking are discarded.

Homosexuality

Today, because he or she have equal rights with everyone to pursue their own sexual gratification in the way they choose, all things that are considered immoral in the Bible, can be pursued without conscience or consequence. Two men lying with each other, as with two women, is condemned as abominable, by God in His Word, (Leviticus 20:13& Romans 1:26-27)but today if anyone disagrees with this practice, they are considered homophobic or anti-social. Equality, they say, must be given to men who wish to marry men, and women who wish to marry women, because they have the same human rights as heterosexuals. After all doesn't God love all people, irrespective of their sexual orientation therefore what He calls 'an abomination' in His Word, must be incorrect. God cannot bless the union of two people inside or outside His church if that union is contrary to His Word. It is presumption to believe otherwise.

Destruction by Water and by Fire

The fact that God destroyed the anti-diluvian world in Noah's day with water, and Sodom and Gomorrah with fire, for the very acts legally committed today, shows mankind has not learned from history. And no wonder, modern science, they say, has proven Bible history is false. (See 2 Peter 3:3-7)

Genesis

By referring to the book of Genesis as a fable, the foundation of the Christian faith has been swept away. God either called the worlds into existence by His Word or He didn't. If evolution is to be believed, then the male and female gender which God created for pro-creation was a product of chance? Cells that once multiplied by splitting, somehow changed their reproductive processes over millions and millions of years to form male and female species and at some stage in the process of this fantastic evolutionary change they began to copulate with one another to produce their offspring? So then Adam and Eve did not exist? God did not make a woman from a man's rib and it is not necessary for a man to leave his mother and be united with his 'female' wife to become one flesh (Genesis 2:24).See also (Matthew 19:4). Men and women can therefore legally have sex with someone of the same sex and that's okay today because he has equal rights with everyone, to pursue his own sexual gratification in the way he or she choses.

Abel and Cain in the New Testament.

When Jesus, Paul and John spoke of Abel and Cain, the sons of Adam and Eve, in (Matthew 23:35, Hebrews 12:24, 1 John 5:12),they must not have realised that these people were fictitious. This is the conclusion we must come to if the book of Genesis is just and allegory.

What other problems arise in the Bible if the Genesis story is just a fable?

Evolution is about the survival of the fittest. Consequently death must follow life. If God set the seed of evolutionary processes, then He is the author of 'death'! He is responsible for all the misery that has been caused over the centuries through the ‘life death cycle? Therefore the Bible is again incorrect when it says:

‘God is the God of the living, not of the dead’ (Matthew 12:27)

What purpose was Jesus death and resurrection?

If man evolved from a primeval soup into the product he is today, then why did Jesus need to die on the cross for a fallen human race? According to the Bible, death came about because of the disobedience of Adam and Eve. If this account is not true then

the redemption plan must also be false. Therefore Jesus did not die on the cross nor was He resurrected from the tomb?

Blood Sacrifice

The chosen people of God were commanded to make a blood sacrifice to atone for their sins. God initiated this ritual for Adam and his offspring to perform and to be carried on by future generations. These sacrifices pointed to the Lamb of God (Jesus Christ), who would later be sacrificed for the sins of the world. The Jews kept this ritual for centuries until Christ Himself was placed upon the cross. They had, however, lost sight of the meaning of this sacrifice, performing it as a meaningless ritual every week, resulting in their blindness in seeing the spotless Lamb of God when He walked among them. Today the Jews still wait for the Messiah. They are forbidden from studying the prophetic writings in the book of Daniel because gives the exact time of Jesus' first advent.

And what of love?

Isn't God love? Doesn't He love all mankind unconditionally? Yes He does but unconditional love on His behalf does not mean that we can 'do as we please'. He will never leave us nor forsake us BUT we can leave Him by denying, or presuming to know better than His written Word. God gave man a special gift - freedom to choose between what He says and our own will. Love on our part is a doing His Will. We do this by listening and acting upon what He says in His Word. Love is not an abstract thing as the 'Flower Power' era of the 1970's made it out to be. The Beatles sang 'All You Need Is Love' but what was that love? Was it gratifying a sexual appetite with many partners? Was it lying around on a bed of flowers doing nothing all day? God's love is AGAPElove. This love encompasses His whole creation. It permeates and sustains everything throughout the universe. Sinning separates us from that love and sinning is the transgression of God's law (1 John 3:4).

Reward for Obedience to God’s Law

There will be a reward for obedience to God and there will be punishment for those who disobey God's Word. Does God hate us if He has to punish us? Of course not, He is Our Father and just as a human father loves the child he punishes for doing wrong, so God, for our own good, punishes us when we do wrong. If we learn from that punishment, then we grow into a better person throughout of lives and finally, when we have slept the sleep of death; we will be raised to eternal life. (1 Thessalonians 4:13-17). If we do not learnand continue in our sinful ways, God will let us choose our own road, which will finally lead to eternal death but He will take no pleasure in seeing us die. (See - Ezekiel 33:11)

Summary.

Those who believe that Jesus is who He said He was cannot believe in the Theory of Evolution. It is not compatible with the creation story. You must believe one or the other. Christians are also in great danger of following religious doctrines, which are not biblical. Millions died through the dark ages, persecuted for their belief in the Bible because God's Word exposed the errors being taught by that church. Surprisingly, this persecuting church was a Christian church. Thousands of Bible believing Christians were put to the flame, just for reading the Bible in their own language. Those who take the time to study the Bible will have their minds opened up by the Holy Spirit and be able to discern false doctrines and false worship. Our Lord Jesus is approachable by everyone. We do not need to go through another human, alive or dead for Him to hear us. Ministers of the Christian faith are there to instruct and teach us from His Word. If they do not speak according to His Word, then they themselves do not have the light of truth. (Isaiah 8:20). There can be no compromise with God. His Word has stood the test of time and will be a light to the feet of those who choose to follow it. Test all doctrines with it and your faith will be firm upon the Rock of Ages - Jesus Christ who is the living Word.
