Dear God Tracker

God-tracking is acknowledging the Lord at the start of every day

I have one of those snooze buttons on my clock-radio, which allows for an extra 9-minutes snooze after the initial alarm time. One particular morning I had pressed the snooze button and was laying awake thinking about the day to come. I had nothing untoward lined up for that day and so, as I lay there, I heard myself pray, "Lord, I acknowledge you in my day." But as the day unfolded I found myself constantly confronted by challenges to that simple prayer. The devil seemed to be out to derail me from God's plans and purposes for that day; everything went wrong from computer problems (which, I dare say, severely challenged my moral integrity) to banging my little toe against a doorframe! And with each temptation to lessen my Christian witness the words, "Lord, I acknowledge you in my day," came to mind.

In your daily God-tracking you will often be faced by multiple challenges to your integrity. The devil hates God's plans and purposes for you and will attempt to derail you from your God-track at every turn. It's a fact; you will be faced with temptations, sickness, disappointments and difficulties in this life. But if you pray and acknowledge the Lord at the start of each day then God will direct you and provide a way out of every adverse situation you face. Jesus actually warned us that we would face trouble in this world but then reminded us that he has overcome the world.

I'm sure Jesus faced challenges in his daily life, like I did that day. I wonder if he ever had a bad word come to mind when he wacked his little finger with a mallet in his carpenter's workshop. I wonder if he ever became stressed or overworked or frustrated when things went wrong. We know that after his baptism, the Holy Spirit took him into the wilderness where he was tempted by Satan. However, I'm convinced that Jesus was always in control of his adverse situations. You see, I'm equally convinced that Jesus knew the proverb found in Proverbs 3:6 that commands us to acknowledge God in all our ways. I'm convinced that he might have prayed each morning, "Father, I acknowledge you in my day." And so it was when that auspicious day eventually dawned Jesus was able to sing with his disciples at the last Passover meal he ever ate, "This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it." So let us fix our eyes on Jesus the author of our faith and follow his example of acknowledging the Lord in all our ways.

Look-up and Fix Your Eyes On Jesus!

Help me to remember this prayer whenever I am tempted to compromise my faith: 'Lord I acknowledge you in my day'

Pray
"Dear Father, thank you for your grace in my life. Thank you that you are always there when I call. Today I call on your help and protection as I face my trials and difficulties. I know that Jesus endured much for me and has overcome the devil and his worldly system. So I choose to acknowledge you at the start of every day and trust that you will lovingly direct me as I track the paths of life. I look to Jesus as he author of my faith and trust that he will help me in this time of need. Help me to remember this prayer whenever I am tempted to compromise my faith: 'Lord I acknowledge you in my day'. Amen."
