The meaning of Psalm 23

by Olabisi Obideyi
4/22/2013 / Christian Living

When the Lord first called me the only thing I was familiar with in the Bible was Psalm 23. Little did I know then that Psalm 23 actually contains everything the Bible is really all about.
I pray that as you recite it today in light of the true meanings, the living Word from the meanings will power you from the inside, manifest abundant supply in your life, generate from within you a renewed hope and trust in the Lord and equip you to have complete success in every dominion dimensional realms for His glory sake.

PSALM 23

Verse 1: The LORD [is] my shepherd; {That is talking of me being the Lord's sheep and as His sheep, He is my guiding Shepherd and protector (John 10:1-11)}. I shall not want. {That is talking of God ensuring I always have abundance supply of my needs and as a result I shall never lack (Philippians 4:19)}.

He leadeth me beside the still waters. {That is talking of His divine peace and rest abiding with me now and forever as a direct result of my covenant relationship with Him (Romans 5:1-5)}.
Verse 2: He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: {That is talking of me being God's perfect harvest and as His harvest, I am in overflow of His heavenly blessings (Ephesians 1:3-12)}.

Verse 3: He restoreth my soul: {That is talking of resurrection of my soul from death through His graceful mercies ( John 11:25, 1 Corinthians 15:12-22)}. He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. {That is talking of God enabling me to fulfil His divine law though Christ His Righteousness revealed. Through accounting Christ unto me as His Righteousness revealed, He established me in His eternal path of glory for His goodness Name sake (Psalm 34:1, Jeremiah 23:5-6, Romans 10:1-4, )}

Verse 4: Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, {That is telling me death no longer has power or dominion over me because in Christ I have overcome death, principalities and powers to the glory of God (1 Corinthians 15:45-58)}

I will fear no evil: for thou [art] with me; {That is telling me not to be afraid because since I am in Christ God is for me and not against me (2 Timothy 1:7, Romans 8:28-33)}

Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. {That is talking of reconciliation with God's Holy Spirit of comfort and life and through reconciliation impartation of His Holiness nature unto my spirit (John 14:15-18)}

Verse 5: Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: {That is talking of God through His infinite mercies making me a champion over my enemies in the presence of my enemies and for His glory sake, He promoted me over and above my asking capacities (Psalm 75:6-10, 2 Samuel 22:29-51)}

Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. {That is talking of God's overflowing me with His anointing power so I am daily empowered and enabled to do the work of the ministry for the perfecting of saints and the edification of the Body of Christ (1 John 2:27, Ephesians 4:11-12,)}

Verse 6: Surely {That means certainly by His special grace (Ephesians 2:8-10)}

Goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life {That is talking of the fact that He has worked everything all out for the good of my soul. Therefore, by His special grace, His Holy Spirit love, forgiveness, comfort, joy, righteousness, holiness, power, might, strength, favour, prosperity, success, promotions and everything else that is goodness on earth and heaven shall follow me and remain with me all the days of my life (Psalm 1, Psalm 32, Galatians 3:6-9)}

And I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. {That is confirmation that I have an eternal life covenant relationship of peace, rest and joy with the Almighty God and by virtue of my covenant relationship with Him, I will inherit His Kingdom and rest and abide with Him now and forever and ever (Psalm 82, Romans 8:14-17)}. Make the true living word meanings of this psalm permanent in your life from today onward by doing what King David did all His life for the rest of your life, which is to give thanks to God no matter what the case might be because of what He has already done for you through Christ long before you were born to guarantee you eternal life abiding with His Holy Spirit of peace now and forever.

I pray God by His graceful mercies keeps us in His covenant will now and everlastingly. Amen.

Remain blessed always!!
