More Than Conquerors

Praying in the Spirit

In the last several months and weeks I have experienced a marked increase in spiritual warfare, which has led me to be in prayer on a more intensified level.

Recently, I read an excellent book on the interior life and the power of speaking in tongues. The book is called, The Glory Within, by Corey Russell. Corey is on the senior leadership team of the International House of Prayer. "He travels the world teaching about the knowledge of God, intercession, and the urgency of the hour.

From the back cover of his book:

"Many Christians don't realize the abundant, glorious benefits found in speaking in tongues. Realizing the gift brings you closer to God and your spiritual destiny in a variety of ways:

Engaging the revelatory realm of mysteries
Edification
Building a capacity for God
Successful spiritual warfare
Holiness
And many other spiritual realities"

And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues. (Mark 16:17)

I realize how controversial tongues are to some denominations within the church realm, but I believe this is really just an attempt by the enemy to distort and lie about the gift of tongues because of the awesome power tongues is capable of unleashing.

For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries (1 Corinthians 14:2) People tend to be afraid of things they do not understand, but I believe with some simple instruction and study of the scriptures it is possible to have major breakthroughs in this particular area. If you are a Christian and want to be filled with the Holy Spirit, with the evidence of speaking in tongues, simply pray and ask the Lord to reveal this mystery to you through his Word and Spirit.

Signs of the time

While most people, believers and unbelievers, can read the signs of the times many of us don't understand how to overcome in the last days. On my morning commute to college, I speak in tongues as I drive along the river. I have noticed since I started doing this on a more regular basis, I have been getting more revelation in the form of dreams and visions as well as words of knowledge and prophetic warnings.

In the last days the Bible gives us specific information on how people will be acting and what the overall spirit of the time will be like.

But understand this, that in the last days will come (set in) perilous times of great stress and trouble [hard to deal with and hard to bear]. For people will be lovers of self and [utterly] self-centered, lovers of money and aroused by an inordinate [greedy] desire for wealth, proud and arrogant and contemptuous boasters. They will be abusive (blasphemous, scoffing), disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy and profane. [They will be] without natural [human] affection (callous and inhuman), relentless (admitting of no truce or appeasement); [they will be] slanderers (false accusers, troublemakers), intemperate and loose in morals and conduct, uncontrolled and fierce, haters of good. (2 Timothy 3:1-3 Amplified Bible)

The above scripture became alive to me as the Lord impressed upon me that many of the issues I have been dealing with were a direct sign of the time. In the last few years I have experienced relentless attacks, slanders, troublemakers, proud and arrogant people and parenting issues that all relate to this scripture in 2 Timothy. Many people today are abusive and greedy. To be profane is to mock or make fun of those things which are sacred and holy, namely Jesus Christ and his followers.

Offensive versus Defensive

When someone is attacked or unjustly accused of something they may become defensive and try to protect themselves by defending their position and livelihood. What I have found out through experience is that we must actually be more offensive than defensive in our approach to what the enemy tries to bring on us. What I mean by this is we need to be more aware and prepared for oncoming attacks when we see the red flags.

I am the kind of person that will almost always give a person the benefit of the doubt. I don't immediately make a snap judgment on someone before I really get to know them. However, if you see warning signs or red flags in their behavior or temperament that indicate a threat; it is time to press into prayer and get the Lord's perspective on the situation.

I have found through praying in tongues that the Lord gives me supernatural revelation and understanding on how to react to an attack. If we just go by our feelings and emotions, we will most likely create a more difficult problem. However, it is also important to have a backbone and stand up for what you know is right.

If you take the time to pray in the spirit and seek the Lord He will fight the battle for you. He will give you strategies, timing, and an overall sense of peace. What the enemy tries to use against you for evil, will be turned around for your good.

Behold, I am sending you out like sheep in the midst of wolves; be wary (cautious, watchful for problems and attacks from the enemy) and wise as serpents, and be innocent (harmless, guileless, and without falsity) as doves. (Matthew 10:16)

It has been my experience that many times the enemy will try to puff himself up and intimidate, when in reality he doesn't have a leg to stand on. He goes about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. The enemy goes around acting like this great terror and tries to put so much fear in you that you will become paralyzed and ineffective. But greater is He that is in us, than he that is in the world. Jesus is the Lord of Lord and the King of Kings and whoever calls on him will be saved and protected. Where does our help come from then? It comes from the Lord.

In Conclusion

As the world becomes darker and darker, those who are filled with the Holy Spirit will begin to shine brighter and brighter. Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising. (Isaiah 60:1-3)

We as believers of Jesus Christ are the head and not the tail. I take this to mean that no matter what we will end up on top. We are the first and not the last. We have the Lord of Host on our side and with him no devil in hell, no man on earth, nor anything else can stop what the Lord decrees to happen on the earth. It is up to us to stay plugged in and interceding. We must be alert and on guard for the time is short and the enemy is very angry at the sons and daughters of God.

Don't stand by and let the enemy intimidate you or lie to you any longer. We are more than conquerors though Christ who loves us and will never leave nor forsake us.

Finally, I would like to share with you a prophetic word from Munday Martin. He is the founder and revivalist of Contagious Love International.

"It is the hour for women in ministry! I had a powerful dream last night where I was shown a woman being raised up who was the wife of a well-known minister here in the United States. This minister has a strong prophetic voice. Her revelation was so powerful and her focus was so strong on building up the broken body. I could even slightly see that the mantle God had put on her was so powerful, it made the man in ministry nervous a little bit that the spot light was being taken off of him directly and was on them both But at the same time the man supported her and the transition. Men in ministry stand by your woman. It is their time to be heard and their time to shine in the body of our Lord Jesus! A mighty roar is being released! Let this company of strong women with integrity and love be released Lord in Jesus name."
